Last year was a memorable season in Duval County as new teams took flight as division champs. This year may see the same, as different teams are showing that their time is now to soar. One of these teams may be Southside Middle as their quest to obtain a southern division title began with a bang against Landon.
Southside defeated Landon 40-0 in week 3 thanks to big efforts from running back Nate Chandler who scored two touchdowns. The defense was spearheaded by 6th grader Cory Carroll who stands all of 4 ft 5 inches tall but hits like a missile. He forced a fumble in the first quarter, the first turnover of the game and the route was on. The ensuing possession saw Terrail Mitchell run it in on offense for the Southside touchdown. The Knights have a lot of talent and look to win their first division championship in school history.
