J.E.B Stuart Middle School- Lake Shore Middle and Fletcher Middle battled for the right to advance to the Duval County Middle School Football Championship on Tuesday afternoon. Lake Shore came into the contest winners of the Western division, while Fletcher came into the contest winners of the East. The two teams famously met two years ago in an amazing 7- overtime victory by Fletcher, however this year’s contest would be a far different outcome.
Fletcher’s ball-control offense famously keeps opposing offenses at bay, however Lake Shore was able to control the line of scrimmage and capitalize on their athleticism to pull away from Fletcher late in the 2nd quarter, Leading 16-8, Lake Shore’s quarterback Cornelius Pender scored to balloon the lead to 24-8 going into halftime.

Lake Shore would go on to win the game 44 to 8 over Fletcher, thanks in part to three touchdowns by running-back #1 J’nethen Jackson, who scored three touchdowns in the game. The defense was led by defensive end Dallas Brown, who had 15 tackles in the game and was instrumental in holding Fletcher to just 8 points in the game. It was music to the ears of the Lake Shore Coaching staff, who advance the Warriros to the championship for the first time in school history. Lake Shore will face Highlands in the Duval County Middle School Football Championship next Tuesday.
