2018 Small School Honorable Mention All-Area Defensive team

It was another historic year for the First Coast area this past fall as the area crowned two state champions this season including back-to-back state titles for Raines and a first ever state title for Mandarin.

We honor those players that stood out in the 2018 season as we release our 2018 All-Area team over the next week. Without further ado here is our 2018 All-Area Small School Honorable Mention Defensive team.

Our Small School All-Area team is comprised of Class 4A-Independent players from: Andrew Jackson, Raines, Fernandina Beach, West Nassau, Wolfson, Bradford, Interlachen, Keystone Heights, Baldwin, Episcopal, Providence, St. Joseph, Eagle’s View, North Florida Educational Institute, University Christian, Hilliard, Union County, Crescent City, Bishop Snyder, Cedar Creek, Christ’s Church, St. Johns Country Day, Florida Deaf.

Honorable Mention (Defense)

Ezenwa Lampkins (So., DB), Andrew Jackson
Lampkins was a key leader on defense racking up 52 tackles and 6.5 sacks this season.

Khalil Kitchen (So., LB), Baldwin
Despite being a sophomore, Kitchen accounted for 74 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception.

Michael Barnes (Sr., DL), Baldwin
Barnes managed 79 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 3 sacks his final year.

Shaytron Cotton (Sr., DL), Bradford
Cotton racked up 44 tackles, 8 tackles for loss and 5 sacks this season.

William Owens (Sr., LB), Crescent City
Owens came through with 55 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 interception for the Raiders.

Jeremiah Roof (Jr., DB), Crescent City
Roof had a solid year with 68 tackles, an interception and 5 pass deflects.

Joquan Williams (Jr., LB), Crescent City
Williams was one of several key contributors for the Raiders finishing with 54 tackles, 2 sacks and an interception.


Christian Lopez (Jr., K/P), Crescent City
Lopez was clutch for the Raiders converting 42 of 47 point after attempts and 1 of 2 field goals.

Michael Gebremedhin Jr. (Jr., LB), Eagles View
Gebremedhin was reliable for the Warriors finishing with 37 tackles and 6 sacks.

CJ Otero (Jr., LB/DL), Eagles View
Otero was clutch with 48 tackles and 5 sacks for the Warriors.

Jack Barksdale (Sr., DB), Episcopal
Barksdale accounted for 71 tackles and 3 sacks for the Eagles.

John Powell (Sr., LB), Fernandina Beach
Powell was a huge player for the Pirates with 95 tackles and 2 tackles for loss.

Izaya Latham (Jr., DB), Fort White
Latham finished with 48 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and an interception for the Indians.

Kameron Calhoun (Jr., LB), Fort White
Calhoun was solid for the Indians with 52 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and an interception.

Nazario Jones (Sr., SS), Raines
On a team with multiple players, Jones was overshadowed despite 64 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 1 interception.

Reginald Harden (Jr., DL) Raines
Harden accounted for 41 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 8 quarterback hurries.

 

Angelu Nunu (Jr., DL), Union County
The versatile and quite strong Nunu accounted for 32 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 5 sacks and 14 quarterback hurries.

Alonzo Perry (Jr., FS), Union County
Perry accounted for 54 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.

TJ Robinson (Sr., LB), Union County
Robinson finished with 65 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.

Jackie Dinh (Jr., LB), University Christian
Dinh was huge for the Christians with 65 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Wyatt Roshey (Jr., FS), West Nassau
Roshey finished with 60 tackles, 8 tackles for loss and 4 sacks for the Warriors.

Omari Jackson (Sr., DE), Wolfson
Jackson accounted for 38 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 interceptions and a pick six for the Wolfpack.
