It was another historic year for the First Coast area this past fall as the area crowned two state champions this season including back-to-back state titles for Raines and a first ever state title for Mandarin.
We honor those players that stood out in the 2018 season as we release our 2018 All-Area team over the next two weeks. Without further ado here is our 2018 All-Area Small School Third Team Defensive team.
Our Small School All-Area team is comprised of Class 4A-Independent players from: Andrew Jackson, Raines, Fernandina Beach, West Nassau, Wolfson, Bradford, Interlachen, Keystone Heights, Baldwin, Episcopal, Providence, St. Joseph, Eagle’s View, North Florida Educational Institute, University Christian, Hilliard, Union County, Crescent City, Bishop Snyder, Cedar Creek, Christ’s Church, St. Johns Country Day and Florida Deaf.

Third team
DL – Eli Morton, Sr., St. Johns Country Day
Morton finished the year with 60 tackles, 5 sacks and an interception for the Spartans.
DL – Jaquez Mosley, Sr., Bradford
Mosley was productive with 94 tackles, 7 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
DL – Josh Hughes, Sr., Keystone Heights
Hughes accumulated 76 tackles and 5 sacks in the season.
DL – Michael Mugford, Jr., St. Joseph
Mugford became a go to guy on defense with 58 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 6 sacks.
LB – Joseph Carter, So., University Christian
The two-way player finished with 60 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 350 receiving yards.
LB – Dale Walker, So., Baldwin
Just a sophomore, Walker showed promise with 57 tackles and 5 sacks.
LB – Derrick Roberson, Jr., Fort White
Roberson finished with 68 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.
LB – Allan McClellon, Jr., Union County
McClellon finished with 48 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 7 sacks and 7 quarterback hurries.
DB – Donovan Jenkins, Sr., Fort White
Jenkins capped his career with 37 tackles and 4 interceptions this season.
DB – Aaren Sims, Jr., Baldwin
Sims finished with 55 tackles and 3 interceptions for the Indians.
DB – Dontae Balfour, So., Bradford
Just a sophomore, Balfour showed promise with 72 tackles and 3 interceptions.
DB – Uriah Ratliff, Sr., Raines
56 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 3 interceptions for the Vikings.
Utility – Pedro Velez, Sr., Bishop Snyder
Velez was the go-to-guy on offense for the Cardinals accounting for 748 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns for 924 all-purpose yards, while finishing with 45 tackles on defense.
Utility – Christian Nobles, Sr., West Nassau
A versatile two-way player, Nobles finished with 72 tackles and 9 tackles for loss on defense, while also accounting for 723 rushing and 7 touchdowns on offense for the Warriors.
KS – David Britt, So., Christ’s Church
Britt converted 24 of 31 point after attempts and was 3 of 3 in field goals for the Eagles.
