Duval Sports 2018 Small School Second Team Defensive team

It was another historic year for the First Coast area this past fall as the area crowned two state champions this season including back-to-back state titles for Raines and a first ever state title for Mandarin.

We honor those players that stood out in the 2018 season as we release our 2018 All-Area team over the next two weeks. Without further ado here is our 2018 All-Area Small School Second Team Defensive team.

Our Small School All-Area team is comprised of Class 4A-Independent players from: Andrew Jackson, Raines, Fernandina Beach, West Nassau, Wolfson, Bradford, Interlachen, Keystone Heights, Baldwin, Episcopal, Providence, St. Joseph, Eagle’s View, North Florida Educational Institute, University Christian, Hilliard, Union County, Crescent City, Bishop Snyder, Cedar Creek, Christ’s Church, St. Johns Country Day and Florida Deaf.

Second team

DL – Dayvon Pickney, Sr., Raines
There wasn’t a better front four then the Vikings including Pickney who finished with 57 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 7 sacks.

DL – Jontre Tape, Sr., Crescent City
The senior finished his career with 70 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 7 sacks helping the Raiders to their first playoff win in 18 years.

DL – Christopher Green, Sr., Jackson
Green had a incredible season on the line for the Tigers accounting for 52 tackles and six sacks nearly leading the Tigers to the playoffs.

DL – Jaren Wilson, Sr., Raines
Wilson terrorized opposing lines finishing with 57 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 8 sacks from his end position.

Javon Bonsell

LB – Javon Bonsell, Sr., Raines
Production wise his numbers were way down from last year but he still had a heck of a last year with 89 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 7 sacks.

LB – Jeremy Starling, Sr., West Nassau
Starling finished his career with 84 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 8 sacks.

LB – Seth O’Neal, Jr., West Nassau
O’Neal finished with 87 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 4 sacks.

Aric Horne

LB – Aric Horne, Sr., Raines
The Iowa State commit finished with 56 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 4 sacks.

DB – Deebo Coleman, So., West Nassau
The two sport athlete is not only lethal on the basketball court but also a dangerous corner as well finishing with 48 tackles and 5 interceptions.

DB – Christian Kes, Jr., St. Joseph
Kes was impressive at corner with 5 interceptions despite just 17 tackles.

Cameron Harris

DB – Cameron Harris, Sr., Wolfson
The two-way player finished with 4 interceptions including one pick-six on defense, while also averaging 33.3 yards per catch on offense.

DB – Trevon Hobbs, Jr., Raines
66 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 4 interceptions

Utility – James Drysdale, Sr., St. Joseph
Drysdale was one of the two main go to guys for the Flashes and a huge reason for the Flashes best season in school history, accounting for 838 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns on offense and 79 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks and an interception on defense.

Utility – Amos Porter, Jr., Baldwin
Porter did a lit bit of everything for the Indians playing tailback and defensive back, finishing with 692 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns on offense and 3 interceptions on defense.

KS – Sam Safar, Sr., University Christian
Safar was 5 for 5 in field goals and 22 of 25 on point after attempts for the Christians.
