Duval Sports 2018 Small School All Area Second Team Offense

It was another historic year for the First Coast area this past fall as the area crowned two state champions this season including back-to-back state titles for Raines and a first ever state title for Mandarin.

We honor those players that stood out in the 2018 season as we release our 2018 All-Area team over the next two weeks. Without further ado here is our 2018 All-Area Small School Second Team Offensive team.

Our Small School All-Area team is comprised of Class 4A-Independent players from: Andrew Jackson, Raines, Fernandina Beach, West Nassau, Wolfson, Bradford, Interlachen, Keystone Heights, Baldwin, Episcopal, Providence, St. Joseph, Eagle’s View, North Florida Educational Institute, University Christian, Hilliard, Union County, Crescent City, Bishop Snyder, Cedar Creek, Christ’s Church, St. Johns Country Day and Florida Deaf.

Second team

Naykee Scott

QB – Naykee Scott, Jr., Crescent City
A repeat All-Area performer, Scott had another impressive year with 124 of 233 for 1,808 yards and 14 touchdowns, 169 carries for 689 yards and 14 touchdowns rushing to go along with 39 tackles and 3 interceptions on defense.

QB – Ben Anderson, Jr., Christ’s Church
The junior had a remarkable year, finishing 120 of 193 for 1,768 yards, 16 touchdowns and 5 interceptions along with 264 yards and two touchdowns rushing for the Eagles.

QB – Dylan Thibault, Sr., St. Joseph
It was a historic year for St. Joseph Academy advancing to the second round of the playoffs and a big reason for that was the play of Thibault, who finished 85 of 157 for 1,175 yards, 12 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, while also rushing for 644 yards and 13 touchdowns on 90 carries.

RB – Keyshawn Young, Sr., Union County
Young capped his career accounting for 1,006 yards and six touchdowns on 149 carries on offense, while also racking up 29 tackles, 1 sack, two interceptions on defense.

RB – Nick Channell, Jr., Keystone Heights
The junior back ran through opposing defenses accounting for 1,048 yards and 10 touchdowns on 173 carries in 8 games to lead the potent Indian ground attack.

RB – Max McClendon, Jr., University Christian
Unofficially, McClendon ran for over 1,000 yards and accounted for 15 rushing touchdowns and 300 yards receiving for the Christians offense.

Xavier McGriff

WR – Xavier McGriff, Jr., Baldwin
The junior will be one of the most sought after recruits in 2019 after finishing with 43 catches for 774 yards and 9 touchdowns (17.3 y.p.c.) this season.

WR – Rahman Paul, Sr., Fort White
He was the main target for Dylan Blair, finishing with 43 catches for 544 yards and 9 touchdowns (12.9 y.p.c.).

OL – Caleb Thomas, Sr., University Christian
The 6-3, 275 guard was part of the dynamic duo that paved the way for Ridge Jacobs, Max McClendon and Jaedon Stoshak huge seasons.

OL – Allan Adams, Sr., University Christian
The 6-4, 280 tackle and UCF signee was part of the dynamic duo that paved the way for Ridge Jacobs, Max McClendon and Jaedon Stoshak huge seasons.

OL – Dan Dodd, Sr, Keystone Heights
At 6-4, 225 Dodd was one of the huge reasons why Keystone was able to run for 2,707 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns this season.

OL – Joey Baxter, Sr., Keystone Heights
At 6-2, 335 it’s easy to see why the Indians were able to run for 2,707 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns behind such a massive and strong line featuring Baxter.

Utility – Max Monroe, So., St. Johns Country Day
The sensational sophomore does it all for the Spartans playing quarterback, defensive back and kicker, finishing 74 of 140 for 1,218 yards, 15 touchdowns and three interceptions, 91 carries for 213 yards and 7 touchdowns, 58 tackles and 3 interceptions on defense and 12 of 17 in point after attempts .

Utility – Jajuan Turner, Jr., Andrew Jackson
Turner did a little bit of everything for the Tigers accounting for 1,134 all-purpose yards and 10 total touchdowns, rushing for 576 yards and 7 touchdowns on 59 carries, 16 catches for 171 yards and one touchdown, 5 of 10 for 44 yards passing and 385 return yards, to go along with 35 tackles on defense.

Kicker – Sam Ryan, Jr., St. Joseph
Ryan had plenty of chances to show off his talents as the high powered Flashes scored lots of points this season as he finished 29 of 32 in point after attempts and 3 of 4 in field goals. The multi-talented athlete also racked up 43 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and 2 sacks at linebacker.
