It was another historic year for the First Coast area this past fall as the area crowned two state champions this season including back-to-back state titles for Raines and a first ever state title for Mandarin.
We honor those players that stood out in the 2018 season as we release our 2018 All-Area team over the next two weeks. Without further ado here is our 2018 All-Area Small School First Team Deffensive team.
Small School All-Area team is comprised of Class 4A-Independent players from: Andrew Jackson, Raines, Fernandina Beach, West Nassau, Wolfson, Bradford, Interlachen, Keystone Heights, Baldwin, Episcopal, Providence, St. Joseph, Eagle’s View, North Florida Educational Institute, University Christian, Hilliard, Union County, Crescent City, Bishop Snyder, Cedar Creek, Christ’s Church, St. Johns Country Day and Florida Deaf.

First team
DL – Janoris Roberson, Sr., Raines
Roberson was a tackling machine for the Vikings finishing with 75 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks and 16 quarterback hurries
DL – James Hall, Sr., Raines
The second first teamer for the Vikings, Hall finished with 68 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.
DL – Derrick Stumph, Sr., University Christian
From his end position, Stumph capped his career with 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 11 sacks this season.
DL – Jacob Reaves, Sr., Christ’s Church
The senior broke a school record with 13 sacks this season to go along with 80 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss and 23 quarterback hurries.
LB – Zac O’Connor, So., Christ’s Church
Despite being a sophomore, O’Connor had an unbelievable year with 107 tackles, 2 sacks, 9 pass deflections and 1 interception.
LB – Justin Hall, Sr., West Nassau
Hall was beast mode for the Warriors finishing with 105 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 8 sacks.
LB – Nigel Allen, Sr., Raines
Allen was 93 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries
LB – Daniel Cooper, So., Episcopal
Despite being an underclassmen, Cooper had an amazing year with 105 tackles and 6 sacks.
DB – Cameron Atwater, Sr., West Nassau
Was one of the main reasons why Warriors had best secondary in area finishing with 48 tackles and 6 interceptions.
DB – Damon Harris, Sr., West Nassau
Pick your poison with the Warriors secondary as Harris capped the year with 55 tackles and 6 interceptions.
DB – James Tarver, Sr., Raines
Tarver capped his senior year with 52 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 6 interceptions on the season.
DB – Nathan Davis, Jr., Bradford
The two way standout Davis was a lock down corner finishing with 95 tackles, 7 interceptions and 12 pass deflections.
Utility – Bernard Wright III, Sr., Crescent City
Repeat performer capped high school career by accounting for 40 tackles and six interceptions on defense to go along with 835 all-purpose yards on offense and 12 total touchdowns.
Utility – Jaedon Stoshak, Sr., University Christian
Stoshak did a little bit of everything for UC playing both ways, accounting for 800 yards and 8 touchdowns on offense and 10 interceptions including 3 pick sixes on defense.
KS – EJ Smith, Sr., West Nassau
Smith converted 42 of 46 point after attempts, while also averaging 41.7 on punts
