Leon Washington Foundation Football Camp

Leon Washington gives back to the Community

The youth football camp hosted by the Leon Washington foundation gave kids of all ages the opportunity to learn techniques and fundamentals from several NFL players. Kids and parents were eager at the chance of meeting players they watch on Sunday afternoons. Crowds began forming during the six o clock hour early Saturday morning, as registration started at seven thirty. After a brief wait for pre-registered campers to check in, those who signed up for the camp the morning of were then able to register.  Each camper was issued an Andrew Jackson  red ( Leon’s High School Alma Mata )  Leon Washington foundation camp shirt,  then took a seat in the stands. Leon Washington briefly addressed the campers and parents, a group photo followed, then it was off to the field.

The camp began with a warm-up session led by Andrew Jackson’s Head Coach Vernon Edwards, and assisted by several local coaching volunteers. Individual stations were next, where  NFL players orchestrated football drills for youth. After this session, campers were provided lunch and able to play 7 on 7  football. The camp wrapped up with youth and parents meeting NFL players for questions and autographs.

List of NFL players in attendance included..

Tony Carter
Charles James
Mario Butler
Lonnie Pryor
Jacobbi McDaniel
Dexter McCluster
Chris Summers
Ernie Sims

A big thank you goes out to Leon Washington, his foundation and the volunteers, for putting on a  great event for the youth in the Jacksonville area.
