As high school signing day approaches, we begin to close the book on the 2018 football season. For many seniors, signing day is the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication in the classroom, weight room and on the field. The opportunity to play at the next level, the opportunity to showcase your talents and the opportunity to play the game you love are many reasons why we play the game. However, for many high school football players, gridiron preps will be the last stop of their journey. Even if it isn’t the end, it will be in many cases the pinnacle of their football careers, achieving the highest accolades amongst their peers in the gladiatorial sport we all know and love.
This week we’ve honored many of those special players with our Duval Sports All-Area selections and our All Area accolades list. Today we reveal the player from Northeast Florida that is most deserving of the highest honor and distinction of being named Player of the Year in high school football. There were many players to consider, including some of the top defenders, rushers and passers in the area. But in the end there could be only one, and this player proved to encompass all of those intangibles and more.
