Mandarin 2020 quarterback and Florida’s Mr. Football Carson Beck de-commits from Alabama

SOUTHSIDE – Late Monday evening, Jacksonville radio station 1010XL first reported that Mandarin quarterback Carson Beck de-committed from the University of Alabama. Beck appeared on “The Sports Den” radio show and told hosts Denny Thompson and James Coleman that he was reopening his recruitment. The 6’4 junior quarterback was named Florida Dairy Farmer’s Class 8A Player of the Year, he was also named to the Duval Sports All Area First Team.

Beck passed for 3,546 yards, 39 touchdowns, 8 interceptions and ran for 2 touchdowns in just 14 games. He was sidelined by injury earlier in the 2018 regular season, before leading Mandarin to the Class 8A State Championship. Beck’s decision sent shock waves around the sports world as the name “Carson Beck” trended number one on twitter Monday evening.

Beck says that he is hoping to make a decision before the beginning of his senior campaign. Many believe the decision will come in the spring after wrapping up college visits, he visited Florida and Miami this weekend.

Beck will be the new Trevor Lawrence of quarterback recruits this year as the college football world anticipates the next move of the 4-star athlete. He was also committed to Alabama for both football and baseball, but has since focused his attention on football. The University of Florida is high on the list of Beck and Dan Hicken of 1010XL also says Miami is also a contender.
