Westside-If championships happen in steps, then Trinity Christian Academy Varsity Softball has one last step to take to win it all. Two years ago, the Lady Conquerors made it to the first Final Four in team history. Last year, they were the Class 4A Runner-Up. In 2019, they look to bring home the Gold.
Trinity Christian Academy Varsity Softball started play last Saturday during the Oakleaf Pre-Season Invitational. The Lady Conquerors split two on the day, defeating Keystone Heights 10-3 in the morning game and losing to Class 8A Oakleaf 4-1 in the nightcap.
Against Keystone, Morgan McMillian drove in three runs, and Amaya Ross was 4 for 4 with 2 RBI for Trinity while Lyndsey Smith was 3 for 3 as the team pounded out 15 hits to make a winner of pitcher Bailey Cooley, a senior on her way to Eastern Florida State College. Cooley pitched six innings of two-run, three hit ball and struck out nine batters.
However, Oakleaf’s Madi Davis held the Conquerors to one run on five hits in Saturday night’s contest. The Conquerors drew five walks, but Davis fanned seven in earning the win over Trinity. She was also 3 for 3 with 1 RBI and a run scored while teammate Katie Kistler had two hits and scored twice herself. Cooley allowed four runs in six innings for the Conquerors in taking her first loss of the season.
Trinity, though, bounced right back Tuesday night as the Lady Conquerors visited 5A Suwannee and picked up a 9-4 win in after falling behind 3-1. Ross capped the win with an inside-the-park two-run home run, and Smith drove in three. Trinity collected 11 hits overall on the night.
More individual highlights from Tuesday include the following:
- Morgan McMillian: 3 for 4, 3 R.
Hannah Rivers: 1 H, R.
Senior and Georgia Southern Commit Lindsey LaFavor: 2 R, 2 RBI.
Breezy Burnett: 2 R.

Senior speedster and Florida International University commit Alexis Ross and sophomore slugger Mackenzie Marrell add even more offense to this potent lineup.
