It’s been one of the most competitive seasons in Duval County middle school basketball history. Every division except one saw the winner separated by just one win in boys basketball. Upsets, and forfeits have set up a very intriguing playoffs on their side. On the Girl’s side, several teams at the top dominated their divisions which makes for a very competitive playoff Final 4 .
Girls Basketball
North Division
The North will be represented by Highlands. After a one year absence from the playoffs, the Wildcats are back and undefeated. They breezed through the regular season and look to add another county championship to their school trophy case.
South Division
In the south, there’s a new queen of the jungle and that’s the Landon Lady Lions. They play team ball and have great coaching. That combination is the reason their team will be visiting the Final 4.
East Division
In the East, its been a one team race all year with Kernan. They’ve dominated their opponents and have handled their business. Their eyes have been set on the playoffs all year, and now it switches to making the championship.
West Divison
A surprise team out of the west makes their playoff debut in the Jeff Davis Lady Chargers. They finished the regular season undefeated in their division and suffering only one loss on the year. This is a mystery team to many, so we’ll see how they fare on the big stage.

Boys Division Champions
North Division
Kirby Smith was crowned North division champions after a highly contested regular season between Gilbert, Highlands, and the Comets. They look to avenge their loss to Fletcher last year in the championship game by taking a step further from being runners up to champions.
South Division
In the South, Mandarin won the division with ease. They were our preseason favorites and proved why going undefeated on the regular season. They also look to avenge a final 4 loss last year and take it one step closer to the playoffs.
East Division:
The East had a bit of a shake up as Arlington(our #1 ranked team) was forced to forfeit their divisional gamed due to an ineligible player. Instead. it would come down to Ft. Caroline and Landmark with the Seahawks winning a late season contest over Ft. Caroline to advance. Landmark is a gritty team with tough players who never give up. It’s that style of play that will keep them in games.
West Division:
In the West, Joseph Stilwell would win a very close race with Jeb Stuart to be crowned division champions. Stilwell’s early season upset to Lake Shore almost did them in, but they would handle business against Jeb Stuart to punch their ticket to the playoffs. Consistency is the key for this team, and hopefully they find their stride in the playoffs.
