St, Johns County- Ethan Dage went deep while Conner Aldrich and Dylan Simmons had three hits apiece as the Conquerors extended their winning streak to six with a 7-1 victory over the Panthers of Allen D. Nease last Tuesday night in St. Johns County.
Dage sent one over the left-filed fence in the top of the fourth. His two-run home run (1) scored Kishon Frett, who had just singled home Matt Crump to put the Conquerors ahead 2-1, and gave the Conquerors some insurance runs added onto a lead they would never relinquish.
Crumps tied the game at 1-1 moments earlier as he and Simmons pulled off a successful double steal. Crump scored while Simmons took second in a replay of the Tyson Tucker/Dawson Fietsam feat from Saturday.
Simmons added an RBI single in the fifth, scoring Aldrich, and Tucker drove in Simmons two batters later. Simmons added Trinity’s final run with a double that plated Aldrich in the seventh.
Simmons and Aldrich had equal lines of 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Simmons also had 2 RBI.
Justin Parrish (W: 2-1, 0.48 ERA) pitched 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball. Parrish allowed four hits without walking anyone, and he struck out five. Frett got the final two outs in relief on only four pitches.
The Conquerors (8-1) traveled south to Ocala to battle 4A Trinity Catholic (0-3-1) on Friday, March 8 and defeated them 7-5. A trip to Clay High School in Green Cove Springs followed as the 2019 Super Hero Night on March 9 as Trinity won that contest 8-3. Trinity plays at home today as the Conquerors welcome the Baldwin Indians.
