Matt Toblin Announces He’s Leaving Ponte Vedra for Bolles

Ponte Vedra-Early today, Ponte Vedra Head Coach Matt Toblin announced on twitter that he was stepping down from his position at the school to accept the Head Coaching position at Bolles.

Toblin, who spent five years at the school, went 39-18 as the head man. His time included a trip to the Class 5A State Championship in 2016 where his Sharks led by Mr Football winner Quarterback Nick Tronti, fell to American Heritage 35-33.

Toblin replaces Coach Wayne Belger, who retired at the end of the 2018 season. Belger, a long time assistant to legendary coach Corky Rogers, took over the program in 2016. Last year Belger went 8-5, falling to Trinity Christian in the third round of the playoffs. The previous year, he went 8-4 falling to Trinity in a first round playoff three overtime thriller.

The Toblin hire signifies a youth movement at the top, to which Bolles hopes young athletes will soon follow, returning the storied program to prominence. The Bulldog’s last trip to the state championship game saw them fall to Cocoa 31-17 in 2016. Bolles has not won a championship since 2011. With 32 District Championships, 6 State Runners-up, 11 State Championships and 5 IMSC Championships, Coach Toblin understands that its championship or bust at Bolles.
