Bolles rolls Suwannee to lockup playoff berth

JACKSONVILLE – After defeating Suwannee 3-1 on Thursday; Bolles would go on to defeat Suwannee once again 9-2 on Friday evening to take the series.

The triumphant win Friday catapulted Bolles to the No. 1 seed in the district while Suwannee is now the No. 2 seed.  

Pitcher Patrick Libby would lead Bolles on the mound, allowing only one run by Suwannee in the first inning.

While Wyatt Morrill from Suwannee took over the mound, Bolles would take advantage by capitalizing on runs by Jackson Mayo, Connor Stoll, Chance Moore, Gunner Boree and Wil Shepherd as the first inning would end with Bolles leading Suwannee 5-1. 

The second inning would not bring forth any fruits for Suwannee as Libby continued to rule from the mound along. Meanwhile, Mayo, Stoll and Moore would score runs for Bolles as the Bulldogs led 8-1 after two innings.  

The third inning opened with a banger as Bo Bonds from Suwannee slugged a homerun to cut the lead to 8-2 heading to the fourth.

Hunter Barco hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to extend the Bulldog lead to 9-2 after four innings.

No runs were exchanged in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings closing out the game with a 9-2 Bolles win, as the Bulldogs took home their second win over Suwannee in two days. 

“I’m very proud of the players this season,” Bolles head coach Mike Boswell stated.

After the series win, Bolles (15-2 overall, 4-0 in the district ) automatically earned a spot in the playoffs as the top seed in a three-team district with Suwannee and Baker County.

The Bulldogs return home to host Sandalwood on Tuesday, Providence on Thursday and Ponte Vedra on Friday.
