Episcopal falls to Gulf Breeze as Dolphins Head to Championship

Gulf Breeze blew into Jacksonville on Monday night defeating Episcopal 18-13 in the 2A Regional Semi- Finals. The Lady Dolphin’s Head Coach Carlee Costello would advise, “We came into the game well prepared, confident, but not over confident. “

Clark Hass led Gulf Breeze with 6 points while Delaney Williams and Lauren Thompson would both score 3 goals each. Both Lizzy Christ and Kate Reagan-Costello scored 2 goals a piece while Emma Ostrom would score as well. 

The Lady Eagles were lead by Stela Chepnik whom scored 6 points and Sophia Chepnik whom scored 3 points. Knox Greene , C.C Cavendish and Mia Carter would each score as well. 

Gulf Breeze took the lead early on when Ostello immediately scored prompting Episcopal’s Sophia Chepnik and Stela Chepnik to answer back  consecutively. The Lady Dolphins’ offense would remain relaxed while Episcopal’s offense would lead steady behind ending the first half of the game 9-7, Gulf Coast. 

A strong opening by the Lady Eagles would prompt the second half action when Mia Carter and Sophia  Chepnik both scored tying the game 9-9.

Episcopal would suffer a blow when Sophia Chepnik received a penalty. A tough, gritty but well fought back and forth battle would lead to Guld Breeze ultimately sustaining the lead by outscoring the Lady Eagles. 

Coach Costello will lead her 18-2 Lady Dolphins to face Hagerty in The Lacrosse State Championship Tournament.
