GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Both Ridgeview and Ponte Vedra advanced to the District 3-6A championship with wins in the semifinals, while also getting a little revenge as well.
Top seed Ridgeview had little trouble with No. 4 seed Orange Park in a 10-0 win to pay back the Raiders for a stunning 2-1 loss back on March 29.
In the second semifinal, Clay held onto a 1-0 lead for five innings before, Ponte Vedra rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth to stun Clay 2-1.
Down 1-0, the Sharks tied the game thanks to a couple of hits and a costly error.
Scotland David, who knocked in the tying run, scored from third to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead.
Ridgeview (19-8) and Ponte Vedra (13-12), were scheduled to meet Thursday at Clay in the title game but were rained out.
