ST. AUGUSTINE – Fourth seeded Landrum figured out something the other nine county teams couldn’t do, how to beat undefeated and top seeded Patriot Oaks.
Unfortunately they couldn’t figure out how to beat second seeded Pacetti Bay five days later in the county championship game.
Landrum stunned everyone by knocking off Patriots Oaks 3-1 in the semifinals, opening the door for anyone to win the title.
Anyone as in second seeded Pacetti Bay, who held off Swiss Point 2-0 in the other semifinal.
With Patriot Oaks out of the way, Pacetti Bay shut out Landrum 3-0 in the title game at Flagler College to claim the county title.
Swiss Point (7-5) stunned Patriot Oaks (10-2) 11-3 to claim third place winning the consolation game.
Patriot Oaks, finished the regular season 10-0, and appeared to be the team to beat in the playoffs, yet lost both games to end the season on a two game losing streak.
