Bolles Wipes Out Hialeah-Miami Lakes 43-0

Southside– The threat of Hurricane Dorian led to cancelled and postponed games throughout the area for Northeast Florida football. However, the Bolles Bulldogs would be one of the few teams to play on Friday night. Hialeah-Miami Lakes(Trojans) would make the long trek to face Bolles, at Skinner-Barco Stadium. After a close loss against University Christian (21-14), the Bulldogs were ready for a win, and a wave of a win they would get.

The Bulldogs would get right to business in the first quarter when Will Netting, tackled Tyree Womble on a Trojan fourth down attempt early in the game. After gaining possession of the ball, Bolles wasted no time moving down the field as Kenny Samuels rushed the ball for first downs. Ben Netting would later score the touchdown on a short run. The extra point agave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead early.

The Bolles defense would land the ball right back into the hands of the Bolles offense. Although big hits by the Trojan’s Jamari Felder, Joseph Casimir and Tyquan Covington stood out, it would not stop a second Bulldog touchdown led by Landen Frazier. Bolles would end the first quarter leading Hialeah-Miami Lakes 14-0.

The second quarter would display a tough Bulldog defense, as the Trojans were unable to score. Kenny Samuels and Kade Frew would score back to back touchdowns, boosting them into a 28-0 lead in the second quarter.

Bolles continued their offensive onslaught by putting in quarterback Jeremiah Johnson, who would throw two consecutive touchdown passes to Davis Ellis. Bolles took a commanding 40-0 lead into halftime.

With one day of practice, the Bulldogs would send the Trojans back down the coast empty-handed, with a 43-0 victory. Senior quarterback Ben Netting would go on to say, “We came out after one day of practice and we just had a lot of energy going in. A lot of credit goes out to the offensive line because they did their job tonight. The guys and I were focused and we had a lot of fun. ”

For the team is was a win they wanted for many reason but none bigger than to get their new head coach Matt Toblin his first regular season win at the school since coming over from Ponte Vedra.

Hialeah-Miami Lakes(0-2) play Hialeah Educational Academy back home next week. The Bolles (1-1) remain home to match up against St. Augustine Yellow Jackets(2-0) on September 13th at 7:30 pm.
