Episcopal Subdues Bolles in Epic Third Set

Episcopal- Rival Bolles visited Episcopal not really expectant of a repeat of last year’s match. In the previous year, The Lady Eagles would defeat Bolles 3-0. This year, Episcopal would defeat Bolles once again at a 3-0 score but not without a tremendous battle in the third set. Lady Eagles
Hannah McCarthy, Olivia Leinenweber and Mackenzie Flackus would advise, “We played well and stuck together as a team. It’s all coming together for us now”.

The Episcopal and Bolles match up would bring out the masses. Bolles fans were adorned in Toga attire while Episcopal fans aligned the gym with boisterous cheers. Lady Bulldog Mila Kavalieros began the match with a powerful serve mustering up the first point. Both teams would score back to points until Flackus would serve up 6 consecutive points to double Episcopal’s lead. The Lady Eagles would gain the 25-15 win over the first set.

After switching sides on the court, Cate Hale would begin the serve allowing Episcopal to earn 3 points early in the second set. Tough ground plays from Bolles’ Kavalieros and kills by Grace Albaugh would not be enough to disengage the strategic passes by Episcopal’s Ava Freel , Jordan Cooper and McCarthy. Emily Mayher would lead The Lady Eagles in kills to end the second set 25-13.

The outlook of the first two sets projected an Episcopal sweep. Surprisingly, Bolles would ‘Bring It’ and give The Lady Eagles the match of the season thus far. Ella Schellenberg gave a new meaning to hustle as she dove for passes saving Bolles. Kathryn Orr chimed in as well with attacks on behalf of The Lady Bulldogs. Mayher’s long arms extended as if they could stretch across the court which permitted Episcopal havoc. Tori Zlatanoff sent kills and attacks matching up with Bolles. At a 24-23 match lead, McCarthy would send the pass over to Mayher for the kill ending the game.

Bolles is now 3-3 and will move forward to face Boynton Beach. Episcopal is 3-3 and will compete this week at Venice Battle of the Beach.
