Another Win Has Bolles Barking Loud After Biting St. Augustine

Bolles HS- An unlikely match up would occur between Bolles and then undefeated St. Augustine. Statistics projected a Bolles loss due to stronger St. Augustine offensive scoring, defensive scoring, offense yards per game and defensive yards per game. First year Coach Toblin and his Bulldogs would surprisingly sting the Yellow Jackets in a 28-7 Friday night stunner.

Bolles began the game with the kickoff to a receiving St. Augustine. The Yellow Jackets would later turnover on downs resulting in a Bulldog first down. A successful run by quarterback Ben Netting would lead to yet another Bolles first down. Caden Fordham would then score a Bulldog touchdown. Bolles took the 7-0 lead over St. Augustine with 4:25 left in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets would fail to make a run in the first allowing the Bulldogs to close out the first quarter maintaining the 7-0 lead.

A tougher St. Augustine defense would lead off the second quarter causing Bolles to turnover on downs. As the ball would find its way back in the possession of St. Augustine, the team would continue to be shut out by the Bulldog defense. Without either team scoring, the second quarter would end as Bolles continued to lead St. Augustine 7-0.

The Yellow Jackets sparked the third quarter action with the kick off to the Bulldogs. A receiving catch by Kade Frew would make good for a Bolles first down, however plays by St Augustine’s Jalen Byrd on defense created opposition for the Bulldog offense. With the ball in tow, St. Augustine later would gain 15 yards due to a personal foul against Bolles. A pass complete to Yellow Jacket Cody Cooper moved the ball down the field. At first and goal, Tyreaun Baxter scored a touchdown for St. Augustine tying the score 7-7 with less than 4 minutes in the third quarter.

As the Bulldogs took over the ball, quarterback Jermiah Johnson would make a run to achieve the first down. Rising to the occasion again was Fordham, who responded to the St. Augustine score. Bolles would score once again ending the third quarter up 14-7.

After the Yellow Jackets failed attempt to make a first down, the Bulldogs got the ball back and immediately earned a third touchdown. It would be Fordham’s third touchdown for the evening, scoring the hatch trick for Bolles. With a 21-7 lead, the Bolles defense commenced upon St. Augustine’s offense like a pack of wild dogs on the discovery channel. An amazing interception by Fordham would place the ball back in the Bulldogs possession. to seal the win, Jeremiah Johnson would toss a pass to Kenny ‘NuNu” Samuels imparting another Bolles touchdown, and departing the Yellow Jackets from Skinner Barco Stadium, as Bolles defeated them 28-7.

Spectators as well as Yellow Jacket fans counted out the Bulldogs but their bite was much bigger than their humble bark. St. Augustine is now 2-1 and will face powerhouse Bartram Trail this week. Bolles is now 2-1 and will battle Creekside this week. For Bolles, they seem to be on a roll after starting the season slow. The team seems to be taking a hold to Coach Toblin’s system, and playing well as a unit.
