Just a week prior, the Andrew Jackson Tigers were on the other side of a lopsided defeat. This week, six different players were able to find the end-zone for the Tigers as they put up a large victory over the Wolfson Wolfpack Friday night 41-0.
Jackson received the ball first and was able to drive down the field on Wolfson quickly. After a botched snap made it third and long for the Tigers, the quarterback Jalen Sonnier, was able to throw a pass to sophomore wide receiver Rickie Shaw for Jackson’s first touchdown of the night. Shaw would have another touchdown later in the game.
The Jackson offensive line played a great game opening multiple holes for the running backs, one of which was a two-yard touchdown by sophomore running back Darnell Cummings. Cummings score came after a thirty-yard run on the drive.
Wolfson was never able to get their offense running. In fact, they only made it into Tigers territory once in the entire first half. In the second quarter, Wolfson got its first chance at scoring crossing over into Tiger territory after a roughing the kicker penalty. On third and thirty, Jackson’s junior corner-back Ezenwa Lampkins was able to intercept the ball.
Jackson’s offense took over , and after a great catch on the ensuing play, the Tigers were able to find the endzone again, this time with freshman wide receiver Terrance Holland. Jackson would score one more time before halftime behind senior running back KJ Mahone.
Wolfson started the second half with the ball and was able to get one play in before the Tigers Lampkins got his second pick of the night. The last touchdown of the night was by freshman running back J’nethen Jackson. A 2019 Duval Sports Middle School Top 50 Athlete.
Wolfson would try out a different quarterback and have success getting down the field but never able to find the endzone. Senior Clyde Holland played well for the visiting Wolfpack, but the team was never able to get it going. Junior defensive end Austin Franks did record an interception on the night for the Wolfpack.
Andrew Jackson (2-2) will be on the road to face Fernandina Beach (1-4) next Friday. Wolfson (2-2) will travel to play against Hilliard (2-2). Both games are slated to start at 7pm.
