Jacksonville Fl- Godby’s Avery Boyd came into the playoff game versus Terry Parker with 620 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns leading the team. Yet he showcased another dynamic of his game early on when he took the opening kickoff 82 yards for the game’s first touchdown. Godby led 7-0 early, and would go on to defeat Parker 38-14.
The Cougars were focused from the start, as they received maximum effort from seemingly everyone. After Parker botched a punt, Godby took advantage by scoring a 1-yard touchdown. Jacquez Yant came into the playoff game with 487 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns. He added another score to put Godby up 14-0.
The scoring didn’t stop there, as Godby continued their onslaught. The Cougar’s Lonnie Williams blocked a punt by the Braves, recovering the ball in Parker territory.
Godby would use the field position to their advantage when Jackell Leland would score a touchdown on a run. The Cougars would add a field goal later in the 2nd quarter to give Godby a 24-0 lead at the half.
Terry Parker has a team of scrappy talented iron men football players who play both way football. One of those players, Tabari Rollins made plays through the passing game when he hit wide receiver Tyrone Williams fora touchdown. The 2-point conversion was good as Parker trail 24-8 in the 3rd.
Godby answered the touchdown with yet another weapon. This time it was Trey Fisher ( son of former FSU Head Coach Jimbo Fisher) who scored on a
Parker’s play makers joined the scoring party, one beneficiary of Rollins passing was Artis Maddox, who scored on a scramble and pass to the end-zone. Parker trailed 31-14 at the end of the third.
Godby would put the exclamation point on the game when Leland would score his second rushing touchdown. The score sealed the win for Godby and sent Parker home in the first round.
It was a successful playoff season for Terry Parker. They ended the season 7-3 , winning a district title and securing a playoff appearance. For Godby, they move on to face Pine Forest in the regional semifinals.
