Jacksonville FL- Max McClendon followed his offensive line to the end-zone early in the first quarter to set the tone for the night as University Christian rolled North Florida Christian 36-6 to advance to the regional finals of the 2019 FHSAA playoffs.
It was a sign of things to come as UC ran at will over and through NFC. Joe Carter rushed for the Christian’s second touchdown to put them up 15-0. University Christian dominated the line of scrimmage on the offensive line.
The defense held NFC to just 6 points for the entire evening, including a goal-line stand in the first quarter. The result of the stand saw UC march 90-yards down the field to score a touchdown. Arthur “Fatz” Walker powered UC down the field with big runs and Desirrio Riles finished the drive with the short touchdown run! University Christian poured it on in the rain, leading 22-0.
UC took a 26-6 lead into halftime and never let up. Safety Orel Grey intercepted a pass to ensure NFC’s scoreless second half. While the finishing touches were executed by Jamari Fudge who rumbled for a long touchdown to balloon the lead to thirty. UC 36- NFC-6
On deck for #1 UC is #2 MaClay out of Tallahassee. It will be the second time a team from the panhandle will travel east to Duval County. Maclay (9-2) defeated St. Joseph Academy ( St. Augustine) 38-2 last week. University Christian (10-1) will be favored in the game, and will look for a tougher challenge in the regional finals.
