The FHSAA recently announced the cancellation of the remainder of the Spring Sports year in Florida. It was a hard and difficult decision for sure, as many 2020 seniors were unable to compete and complete their High School sports careers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In honor of the spring sports seniors, Duval Sports recognizes these athletes in our 2020 Senior Showcase Series. Today’s athlete is St. Augustine’s Brooke Reed.
Brooke Reed (#14) for St. Augustine High School is no stranger to athletics. As a lacrosse player (Lead Attach position) she started playing in the 3rd grade with the St. Johns PAL . She’s competed in fall and summer travel ball, while also being a four year Varsity starter at SAHS. As the senior captain, she led her to three district championships. At the Lead Attack position, she amassed 104 goals scored and 99 assists for her High School career. Her book shelf is full of awards and accolades including National Honor Society with a 4.13 GPA, SJC Athletic Leadership Council (2 years), and the LINK CREW. Not only was she a four year Varsity starter for Lacrosse, but she did the same on the Basketball court as well.
When she wan’t training for her own sports, she was a Football Team Manager for three years, on the team where her brother Austin Reed was the starting quarterbacked. With over 1,000 volunteer hours served in High School, Brooke epitomizes what it means to give back while striving for excellence. She’ll continue that theme this Fall where she’ll be attending the University of West Florida to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. A true leader in the class room and on the field, Brooke Reed is certainly one to count on to lead the way.
The remainder of the sports season may be gone, but spring sports seniors you’re definitely not forgotten. Shoot us an email or DM with your bio and a sports pic and we’ll feature you in our Senior Showcase! @DuvalSports
