JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — “The goal is to be 1-0 each week,” said Christ’s Church Head Coach Jim Stomps. His team heard and understood that message loud and clear. The Christ’s Church Academy Eagles soared passed the Cedar Creek Christian Saints 30-14.

The Eagles came out strong behind junior wide receiver Trey Rose. He made an interception and ran for a 39 yard touchdown to help the Eagles end the first quarter 7-0.

The Saints came out in the 2nd quarter getting a first down from Mickey Hays and then a touchdown from Kayjuan Maduka to make the score 7-6 almost mid way through the 2nd.

But the Eagles quickly went on a 14-0 run to end the half with the score 21-6. Senior wide receiver Hunter Hollis and junior quarterback Jacob Dennie both scored touchdowns for the Eagles.

After intermission, the Eagles came out still on fire. Getting a touchdown from senior kicker David Britt despite having leg cramps try and stop him throughout the game. The third quarter ended with the Eagles holding the Saints scoreless, 30-6.

The Saints showed some fight in the final quarter with Keyon Paige turning defense into offense. He broke up an Eagles pass and with under a minute to go scored the final touchdown of the game. Final score 30-14 Eagles.

Dennie was the star of the game for the Eagles. He completed 12 of 18 passes on top of his own touchdown in his first game as quarterback.
