Next up:
Christ Church (4-0) at Stanton (0-4) 10/9
Christ’s Church deserves lots of recognition for their ability to win each week against private and public schools. A win over Stanton would be big for them.
Trinity Christian Academy (3-2) (Deltona) at Bishop Snyder (1-4) 10/9
Bishop Snyder has a chance to get better against a Trinity Christian Academy team that give up a lot of points.
Ponte Vedra 38 Matanzas 10 F
Ponte Vedra improved to 4-0 on the season after a home win over Matanzas last week. Jacobi Myers passed for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns. Receiver Jacob Greer caught two touchdowns and Jack Polian caught one touchdown. Running-back Campbell Parker rushed for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
Next Up:
Ponte Vedra (4-0) at Bartram Trail (3-1) 10/9
It’s going to be an exciting battle in St. Johns County with Ponte Vedra and Bartram. Does Bartram have too many weapons or is Ponte Vedra’s weapons better? Jacobi Myers and AJ Jones will answer those questions this Friday.
Lake Howell (1-2) at Matanzas (1-2) 10/9
American Heritage 35 Bartram Trail 10 F
The #6 ranked team in the state made their case to be ranked even higher by dismantling Bartram Trail. Up 28-3 at halftime American Heritage got scores from Vinson Davis III who tossed two touchdowns. Oronde Gasden caught two touchdowns and and Emory Clemons caught another for the Patriots. Sophomore Mark Fletcher rushed for 115yards a a touchdown in the win. Bartram was held to its lowest point total of the year.
Next Up
Ponte Vedra (4-0) at Bartram (3-1). 10/9
Trinity Christian (Jax) (2-1) at American Heritage (3-0) 10/16
First Coast 28 West Nassau 21 F
First Coast got their first win of the season with a victory over West Nassau. Quarterback Larry Edwards passed for over 300 yards, three touchdowns, including a 60 yarder to Jabari Mack. Edwards ran for another in the game. West Nassau’s Chaz Davis scored two touchdowns one rushing and one receiving in the loss.
Next Up:
West Nassau (2-3) at Clay (3-0) , 10/9
West Nassau goes from out of the frying pan and into to the fire as Clay awaits them. If West Nassau can get back on the winning track and against Clay it will be a major confidence booster for the team.
Yulee (2-3) at First Coast (1-1), 10/9
First Coast hopes to build off their impressive victory against West Nassau and keep it rolling against Yulee. I’m proud of the Bucs as they have responded to the challenge I issued them on the preps podcast. Let’s see if they can keep winning.
Terry Parker 20 Raines 14
Raines went up 14-0 after a scoreless first quarter against Terry Parker when Carelton Butler connected with Mikih McGhee on a touchdown pass. Butler’s second touchdown gave the Vikings a seemingly comfortable lead. However a blocked punt by Parker’s Chris Victor and a recovery in the end zone gave confidence to the underdogs. Trailing 14-6, Running-back Kevonte Doles scored on a 50 yard pass from Roman Doles as Parker inched closer trailing 14-13 in the third. With 38 seconds remaining Parker gave the ball to Doles again who took it 25 yards for the deciding touchdown.
Next Up
Baker County (4-0) at Terry Parker (2-2) 10/9
This will be a big test for Terry Parker. If they aren’t careful, all the emotion they spent in their win against Raines may have them drained to prepare against Baker County. However, if that energy is harnessed, confidence could have them shock another team two weeks in a row .
Raines (1-3) at Sandalwood (3-0) 10/9
Clear Water Academy 38 Sandalwood 39 F
Chris Calhoun put the Saints on his back passing for 283 yards and 5 touchdowns, while adding 145 yards rushing on the ground to go with it to lead the Saints to a 1 point victory over Clear Water Academy. Calhoun spread the ball around to six different receivers including Nic Brown who caught two touchdowns and Jadon Canady who caught two touchdowns from Calhoun. The Saints quarterback drove 94 yards with just minutes on the clock as Calhoun hit Amari Mitchell for a big gain. Saints kicker Christian Schultz would hit the game winner to give the Saints the win.
Next Up:
Raines (1-3) at Sandalwood (3-0) 10/9
This one is going to be good. Both teams have something to prove. Raines looks to bounce back from an embarrassing loss at home in which they led by 14 points. Sandalwood looks to finally get a victory over Raines after losses to them in consecutive seasons. Jadon Canady vs Kareem Burke might be an interesting matchup to watch.
Bishop Sycamore (0-4) at Clear Water Academy (0-3) 10/9
Ribault 55 Yulee 13 F
Santana Jackson passed for 265 yards and 3 touchdowns as Ribault got their first win of the season blowing out Yulee. Five different Trojans scored for Ribault as Jackson rushed for a touchdown along with Sincere Cohen, Domontrio Glee, and Matranius Mack. Anthony Felton rushed for two touchdowns. Vincent Bailey led all receivers with 110 yards in the first half. Justice Pope tossed two touchdowns for Yulee in the loss.
Next Up
Yulee (2-3) at First Coast (1-1)
Ribault (1-2) at Fletcher (3-1)
This should be good. Martranius Mack versus Myles Montgomery. Two former Duval Sports Top 50 players coming out of Middle School face off, along with Freddie Manning and Aaron Hester. Ribault’s played everyone close and got their first win. Fletcher has only lost to undefeated Fleming Island this year, so they are battled tested.
Fletcher 24 Atlantic Coast 14 F
Patrick Bryant led all receivers with 87 yards and a touchdown for Atlantic Coast. His quarterback Ridge Jacobs tossed a touchdown and ran one as well. However it wasn’t enough as Fletcher ran past the Stingrays for their third win of the season. Myles Montgomery scored the deciding touchdown for Fletcher ending the night with over 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Fletcher’s Aaron Hester got another sack in this game, one of the leading sack men in the city.
Next Up:
Ribault (1-2) at Fletcher (3-1) 10/9
Ed White (2-2) at Atlantic Coast (1-2) 10/9
This will be an intriguing matchup of evenly matched teams. Look for White to try to pound the ball as they did against Kenny. Atlantic Coast will look to exploit mismatches in the White secondary with wide receiver Pat Bryant.
Jackson 39 Fernandina 13 F
Jalen Sonnier tossed three touchdowns and passed for over 200 yards leading Jackson over Fernandina. Rickie Shaw caught 2 touchdowns in the game. J’enethan Jackson scored two rushing touchdowns for Jackson in the game. Cam Miller ran for 102 and 1 TD in the loss for Fernandina.
Next Up:
Jackson (3-1) at Baldwin (4-0) 10/9
I love this matchup because Jackson is finally on competitive track. They have a very tough test against undefeated Baldwin. But the Indians can’t sleep on the Tigers. It’s going to be closer than people think.
Fernandina (3-2) at Paxon (1-2) 10/9
Ed White 46 Bishop Kenny 23
Jaison Patterson rushed 27 times for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns for Ed White as the Commanders got back on the winning track versus Bishop Kenny. Gabriel Garmon and Deangelou Brown caught touchdown passes for White. Bradley Miller and Baylor Newsom scored for Kenny in the loss.
Next Up:
Ed White (2-2) at Atlantic Coast (1-2) 10/9
Bishop Kenny (1-3) at Orange Park (0-4) 10/9
Somethings got to give in this game. Can the Raiders get their first win of the season? Can Bishop Kenny win another game in an attempt to start a winning streak?
