Maccleny, FL – Facing an undefeated Baker County team, the Bolles backfield proved that they’re one of the best, if not the best in the area. Myles Johnson, Caden Fordham, Azeh Kani, Gunner Boree, and Kade Frew, “The Stable” as Myles Johnson calls them, used a lethal ground game to dominate Baker County on Friday night.
A powerful ground game and sound defense ended an undefeated five game winning streak for Baker County (5-1).
Baker County came out swinging when Scooby Graham would take a handoff 58 yards on the first drive to give the Wildcats an early 7-0 lead.
Bolles quarterback Gunner Boree would return the favor with his own 80 yard run to put the Bulldogs on the 5 yard line. A defensive stand by Baker County would bring on the field goal unit as kicker Parsa Pordeli would get started on one of his four makes on the night.
Baker County’s defense would step up early in the game when Jamil Jones secured an interception to give the ball back to his offense. The score remained 7-3 in the first quarter.
From that point on, solid defense for Bolles and an interception by Avery Epstein, one of his two on the night would put a hold on Baker County for the night.
“You guys, that was a great effort tonight. You put up 33 points on a team that was only giving up 5, and held an offense that was scoring 42 points a game to 14 tonight.” – Bolles Head Coach Matt Toblin
An onslaught of points thanks to big plays dialed up by the Bolle’s staff saw the Bulldogs build a 27-7 lead. Baker County’s Jamarian Baker would get into the end-zone late in the game to spark hope for the Baker County fathful.
Yet it was too little too late as linebacker Mack Marrone intercepted a pass to close out the game and an impressive defensive effort by the Bolles Bulldogs. Coach Toblin would also tell his team,“Wins like this are good because we’re preparing for late playoff runs. These are good tests.”
Bolles (5-1) will travel to University Christian(2-3) next weeks, as Baker County will look to get back on track against West Nassau (2-5).
