The Westside Wildcats went 12-0 on their way to an undefeated season and 2-peat as national champions. The Wildcats defeated the Fort Myers Firecats 25-0 on Wednesday to win the Mid-America Southeast junior peewee championship.
The traditional Pop Warner Super Bowl which is held at Disney’s Wild World of Sports was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Normally eight regions, from different states compete, however only two regions competed this year. Yet in still, Westside lined it up and defeated everyone in their path. The Wildcats defeated the Gary Steelers ( Indiana) 46-0 in the semifinals before facing the Firecats in the championship.
The game was dominated from the start by Westside. After the defense held the Firecats scoreless in the first quarter, the offense would ignite. Westside got on the board first with a quarterback sneak to go up 7-0 in the second quarter. Next, quarterback #10 Damian “Ty” Keister would toss a touchdown to #12 Christopher Barnes for another score as Westside held a 13-0 lead.

It’s been a great season for Head Coach Shawn Fountain and his staff. Powered by a defense that left all opponents in their path scoreless, yielding only 6 points all season. On offense, Coach Maurice Fudge led a unit that scored over 30 points a game. Players like #6 Kamauri Townsend, #9 Trevion Williams, and #25 Mikah Howell (Vegas) also made big plays for the team. Captains #20 Issac Young and #3 Michael Conner III were instrumental as well in the team’s successful 12-0 season.
It was a total team effort, and the 2020 Wildcats are a team that can be etched in stone with other Westside championship teams of late. The 2019 Westside Junior Pee-Wee team won the Pop Warner Super Bowl at Disney’s Wild World of Sports. In 2018, Westside powered it’s way to a Division I Pee Wee championship. The park is becoming nationally known representing Jacksonville as a youth football powerhouse.
