Spring Bling: St. Johns Country Day Dominates Decade With 10th Straight Title

It’s a spring celebration in Northeast Florida, as championships galore grace the first coast. Drake and Future once said, “I got a really big team And they need some really big rings”. Team “Duuuuuval” is big, encompassing several counites in the area and several teams represented in their state championship contest making for a festive spring break. Let’s recap who’s sporting the new bling with championships and rings.

St. Johns Country Day (Orange Park) defeated Canterbury (Fort Myers), 6-0 to capture it’s tenth straight state championship. The Lady Spartans won the FHSAA Class 2A girls soccer title March 5th, capping a decade of dominance unlike any other.

It was a complete team effort as several players scored for St Johns Country Day. Just fifteen seconds into the game, senior forward Mai Sadler put her team on the board 1-0. Sadler would score twice in the game. Just two minutes later, senior Paige Crews would score the second goal for the Lady Spartans. Savannah Berrang would cap a first half of dominance with a goal that would be mirrored in the second half.

In the second half, senior Maddie Moody, junior forward Bella Pontieri, and junior forward Julia Boaventura added goals. Alexis Agramonte and Kennedy Brown secured the shut out with saves in the game to bring home the shut out and 6-0 victory.

Head Coach Mike Pickett has been along for the incredible ride, team after team, opponent after opponent. It’s that type dominance that G.O.A.T.S are made of, and he and his program certainly should be mentioned as one of the greatest of all time.
