Spring Bling: Englewood Ready For Hard Hats and Hard Work In Spring Practice

Spring practice 2021 his here, and every team in Northeast Florida is excited to get back on the field with something to prove. From the development of young players to the addition of new players, to potential needs heading into the fall, Duval Sports will crisscross the area culminating with spring football game coverage in May.

Englewood comes off a 2-6 fall season debut for first year Head Coach Zach Harbison. Harbison, who came up the ranks through Middle School Football at feeder school Southside Middle, didn’t have a spring practice last year to install a system or mentality for his new team. The first time he saw what he had on the field was a regular season game on September 10th. Yet with spring practice, off-season workouts and an enthusiastic coaching staff Englewood looks to “be consistent in their work” – Zach Harbison in 2021.

Players to Watch:

Offense:

  • QB Sean Wilks (2023) 6’0 , 195lbs – Gun slinger Quarterback who can connect both short and home run balls
  • WR Emauri Hampton 6’1, 150lbs (2023) Long athletic receiver who looks to break out this year
  • WR Rashaud Clark (2022) 5’6, 130lbs, the Rams ultimate weapon, poised to have a great senior season in the main leadership role on the team.

Defense:

  • DB Julio Valcarcel (2022) 5’10, 160lbs – The Rams top defensive player last year, coaches love this young man.
  • DE/ TE J’sean Scarver (2023), 6’5, 240lbs – The most impressive player size wise on the team. Hits every measurable for college recruiters. Now it’s a matter of putting good tape out during spring and fall.
  • DB Jalen Scarver (2024) 6’1, 180lbs – Defensive coaches loves this young player’s measurables and potential. Already pushing 6’2 as a freshman.
  • DE Ortchild Constantine 5’11, 170lbs (2023) – Showed last year that he can get to the quarterback, and looks to increase sack numbers along with size in the weight room.

There will be camp battles at quarterback as QB Terrance Ford (2023) will challenge. Right now it’s Wilk’s job to lose. Offensive line and defensive line will look for fresh talent to make a name for themselves on the gridiron.

Englewood faces Baldwin in their spring game 5/21/21, 6pm at Englewood.
