Mandarin- It was a nice bounce back win for Bartram Trail against county border rival Mandarin Friday, as the Bears defeated the Mustangs 24-8. Bartram didn’t let their last second loss to Lincoln last week get them down. Instead, they dominated the line of scrimmage from start to finish, wearing down Mandarin defense and stifling their offense.
Quarterback Cade Duncan stepped in for an injured Riley Tujillo and would lead Bartram to a score on the opening drive. He tossed a touchdown to wide receiver John Pirrung as Bartram went up 7-0.
After the defense stopped Mandarin, Bartram would drive into field goal range where Liam Padron would knock in a 48-yard field goal to give Bartram a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. He would hit two more field goals in the game, as he showcased his impressive leg on the night.
In total control of the game, Bartram’s running back Lathon Biddle, took the hand off and raced around the right side for a Bartram touchdown to put the Bears up comfortably 17-0 in the 2nd. They would go on to win the game 23-8.
Bartram (3-1) will lean on their talented defense, going forward in these pivotal district battles. Teams they are familiar with and matchup well from previous years. Next up is a big battle versus Baker County (3-1) on the road.
