High School Football Week 5: Scores, Stats, and Superlatives

It’s mid season and there’s lots of teams getting better as the season progresses. We saw close games and some upsets this week, as players play hard knowing that seniors are half way through their final high school football seasons. Check out the scores, stats, and superlatives for week 5 in Northeast Florida.


University Christian 0 – Bolles 31

DJ Moore rushed for two touchdowns, and Kade Frew rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown eclipsing 3,000 yards for his career. Bolles secondary picked of University Christian 2 times both from Spencer Surface. Bradly Mann and Jack Pyburn registered sacks in the game.


Trinity Christian 26 – Columbia 13

Trinity’s Fred Highsmith lived up to his name, leaping high in double coverage to catch one of his two touchdown passes on the night. His second touchdown was a one-handed reception matched up against one of the highest recruited athletes in our area.

Columbia’s Tray Toliver intercepted a pass and returned it nearly 100-yards for a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough for Columbia. Trinity’s Darnell Rogers ran for 135 yards, and Treyaun Webb returned after being held out all season nursing an injury to run for 96-yards.


Mandarin 21 – Baker County 20

While Mandarin freshman quarterback Trammel Jones led the offense tossing two touchdowns to Koron Hayward, and Jeremiah Shack. Mandarin’s defense was led by junior linebacker Carmello Murphy, whose fumble return for a touchdown lifted the Mustangs over Baker County. Jamarian Baker and Cam Smith ran for two touchdowns, and Noah Ray passed for a touchdown for Baker County. But it was the Mustang’s defense that saw an Jonathon Mitchell’s interception seal the upset win.


Nease 20 – Yule 14

Dom Henry led with 102 yards on 7 receptions for Nease. Yet it was Ben Bogle who was a boggle for Yule scoring on a pick 6 as Nease edged Yulee. A fake punt executed to perfection by Donavan Wilson and the Nease special teams unit gaining 12-yards as a first down.

Ponte Vedra 17 – Menendez 0

The Sharks registered a shutout on the night as Layne Swafford (2), Mack Gray (1), Evan Fleischer (1) registered 4 sacks total. Nathan Bunkoski, and Cory Bloss scored touchdowns on the ground for Ponte Vedra.


Zaraphath 0 – Episcopal 42

Ershod Jasey rushed for 2 touchdowns, and Joseph Wiesner passed for two touchdowns as Episcopal blanked Zarephath.


42 Fleming Island 43 – Ridgeview 14

Darion Domineck showed why he is one of the best wide receivers in the area, catching 3 touchdowns from Cibastian Broughton as Fleming Island got the big victory.


Orange Park 44 – Matanzas 14

Jojo Restall continues to have a great season on the ground, rushing for 188 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Raiders over Matanzas. Tavien Wilkerson rushed for two touchdowns as well.


Harvest Community 6 – Bishop Synder 14

The hat trick of 3 interceptions from Bishop Snyder’s James Bishop, led them to a tough victory over Harvest Community. The Cardinals scored on runs from Luke Seibert and George Murray.


Westside 0 – Englewood 21

Englewood shutout Westside in one of the surprise games of the week. An interception return for a touchdown by Jocktavious Montford acted as a dagger for he Rams. He and Jalen Scarver had interceptions for the Rams defense. Emauri Hampton caught a touchdown in the game to lift Coach Harbison’s Rams.


Stanton 7 – Terry Parker 61

Terry Parker handled business the way they should’ve against Stanton. Roman Doles tossed 2 touchdowns, CJ Dorsey Jr and Kmorie Gilchrist added scores each. Saint Brumfield scored twice for Parker. From the air, Devon Sinclair and Tyrek Williams caught touchdown passes as well.


Andrew Jackson 6 – Riverside 42

Alvin Gibson and Charles Jones-Burroughs scored early to give the Generals a halftime lead of 14-0. Jackson brought it close 14-6 after Jalen Sonnier tossed a TD pass to Matthew Merritt to make it 14-6. However, in the middle of the 3rd quarter, entered quarterback Daniel Plummer III who tossed 4 touchdown passes in a quarter and an half to Jaheim Singletary, Rickie Shaw, and two to Ronald Coleman as the Generals blew the doors open in the second half.


Clearwater Academy 40 – Raines 19

Kareem Burke rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown, Reshawn Latimer tossed a TD in the game as well but Clear water academy was just too much for the Vikings at home.


P.K. Yonge 27 – Baldwin 33

Baldwin’s Jalen Hitchens pass to King Grant tied the game, and sent the contest to overtime. In double overtime, Levarn Harvin scored the game winning run to get the big victory for Baldwin.


Ribault 7 – Sandalwood 34

Sandalwood finally got back on the winning track and in a big way Friday. Jordan Bean has been amazing on the ground, rushing for 271 yards and 2 TDs. Chris Calhoun also rushed for 108 yards 2TDs on the ground and tossed one in the air. On defense, Sayvion Blount registered 2 sacks, and DeAnte McCray had 2 sacks in the game for the Saints.


First Coast 18 – Ed White 22

First Coast quarterback Larry Edwards returned from nursing a non shoulder throwing injury to showcase just how good his throwing shoulder still is. The talented 2022 playmaker tossed two spectacular touchdowns showcasing his scrambling ability and accuracy. His first touchdown to Jahmier Grays made the score 8-6. His second touchdown brought Frist Coast to within two points 14-12 in the 3rd quarter.

Ed White was plagued with sloppy play and mistakes. Penalties, dropped passes and a fumble stalled several red-zone opportunities. However, late in the game Coach Lawrence Johnson fed the ball to running back Christian Ellis 4 straight times. On the 6th play of the drive Ellis punched it in, putting the game all but out of reach.

Junior Davaughn Patterson showed why he’s one of the most talented players in the country, intercepting a pass and rushing for a 50 yard touchdown in the first half. He also was a leader in tackles as well. Malcom Wilson recorded an interception, while Darryl Ricks (1), Carleton Glover(1), and Wesley Madison (2) registered sacks in the game.
