It’s Bolles vs Trinity week in Northeast Florida, and what a treat it’s going to be this year. It falls in October, Halloween month. Both teams have played 5 games, both teams have their best players back and on the field, and both teams made it to the championship game last year. It’s sure to be an epic matchup, as well as Terry Parker vs Raines and others. Check out who moved up and down in this week’s power rankings and who is rightfully #1, and how long will they remain.

  1. Bolles (5-0)- A 31-0 shutout of University Christian was just a tune up for the number one team in Northeast Florida. They now set their sites on the most anticipated battle of the year, against Trinity. Kade Frew broke the three thousand yard mark for his high school career. He, Jack Pyburn, Hayden Swartz, Bradley Mann, and DJ Moore look to improve to 6-0 against the Conquerors.

2. Trinity Christian (5-0) – Last week, they went to Columbia and took care of business 26-13. Fred Highsmith caught two spectacular touchdowns including a one-handed grab in stride against one of the top rated recruits in the area. Darnell Rogers rushed for over 100 yards, but more importantly, Oklahoma commit Treyaun Webb returned for the first time this year and rushed for nearly 100 yards as well. They’re clicking at the right time, and head to Bolles super confident.

3. Riverside (5-0)- The Generals improved to 5-0 showing their incredible versatility this year. Leading by only a touchdown 14-6 in the 3rd quarter, Riverside put in Daniel Plummer and aired it out against Jackson tossing touchdowns to Jaheim Singletary, Ronald Coleman (2), and Rickie Shaw, Freddie Manning caught what looked like a touchdown but was ruled incomplete or it may have been five touchdowns in the second half. 42-6 was the final score. They have Englewood next.

4. Creekside (5-0)- Creekside moves up after going on the road last Thursday night and defeating Chiles in Tallahassee 35-21. Christian Yousefzadeh was the player of the game on defense at defensive back, while running back Preston Strope got into the end zone on offense. They have a tough test in Mandarin coming up, as the Mustangs are coming off an upset win over Baker County.

5. Ed White (3-0)- The hype of being the number 2 ranked team in the state RPI rankings may have gone to the head of the Commanders. What was thought to be an easy matchup against the winless Buccaneers of First Coast, turned out to be a tough, hard hitting, close contest till the end. Give First Coast credit, they played like a team hungry for a win. They fell just short to Christian Ellis 225 yards and 2 TDs, as well as Davaughn Patterson’s rushing TD and Interception. Ed White needs to find their hunger again. Maybe it will come against Paxon.

6. Bartram (4-1)- What an impressive win by Bartram over rival St. Augustine making it 4 in a row. The current Bartram seniors are the first in the school’s history to never lose to St. Augustine in football. Bartram’s defense is playing well, and their offense is stepping up in different ways. Running back AJ Megas scored for the Bears, showing that he can make big plays in games. They held the Jackets to their lowest point total of season. They are on a bye this week.

7. Union County (4-0)– Union County took care of Williston 46-12. Rayvon Durant rushed for 190 yards and a touchdown, Dalyn Diston rushed for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game. The Tigers move up and face Akelynn Christian Academy next.

8. Nease (4-1)- Nease got a hard fought victory over Yulee 20-14 last week. Dom Henry caught 7 passes for 102 yards in the game. They come into the Top 10 power rankings at #8 after being unranked previously. A hungry First Coast team is up next, one that the Panthers cant overlook.

9. Columbia (3-2)– Columbia fell to Trinity Christian at home and were simply out matched. Tray Toliver stepped up with a 95 yard pick 6 in the game. It’s going to take plays like that to get back to winning. The Tigers have just as much talent on the field as Trinity and Bolles, but they are missing that intangible that makes them feared at home. Both losses have been at home and to the #1 and #2 teams in the area. Westside is next.

10. Raines (2-2) – The Vikings fell to Clearwater Academy last week in a game that really could’ve cemented the Vikings has a state contender. Time is still left in this season to get quality wins against good teams, but they missed an opportunity last week. They face a Terry Parker team that upset them last year. Raines won’t be caught slipping this year, so it will be a good game.

Raines running back Kareem Burke evades the arm tackle of Andrew Jackson defensive back Seth Brooks during the first half of a Sept. 17, 2021 football game at Andrew Jackson Field.

Outside looking in: Oakleaf (3-2), University Christian (3-2), Terry Parker (4-1), Bishop Kenny (5-0), Baldwin (3-0),
