Jacksonville FL- Trinity and Bolles faced each other Friday night with a lot on the line. With 19 state championships between them, bragging rights were at stake. A coach who has guided his team to two consecutive state title games, and a coach that has guided his team to two consecutive championships, meant championship coaching was on the brink. And two unbeaten teams at 5-0 meant an undefeated season was on the line. Only one team would leave the game the unequivocal best in the city, and when all the dust settled it would be Bolles who stood alone.

It was a scoreless first quarter that saw Bolles and Trinity trade jabs on defense and special teams. Trinity’s linebacker Keaton Thomas nabbed his second interception of the year stalling a promising first quarter drive by Bolles. The Bulldogs would then block not one but two punts in the first quarter by Patrick Green, and then by Patric Menc. However Bolles was unable to do anything with their offensive possessions after 4th down stops by Jonathan Goddard and Thomas Fryer. That would end in a hurry.

In the second quarter, Kade Frew would get into the end-zone on a 14-yard touchdown run to make the score 7-0 Bolles. The Frew touchdown was set up by quarterback Jakie Judge’s 15-yard run on the drive.

Trinity would attempt to respond, but Colin Hurley’s pass was intercepted by Kavon Miller halting an attempt to tie the game. The Miller interception set in motion the Bolles offense who found success running the ball. DJ Moore would enter the game, and toss a pass to Frew for a big first and goal for Bolles. Next, Frew would take it over the goal line giving his team a 14-0 lead going into halftime.

The second half, was much more of the same for Bolles. Complete domination on defense and the ground game. Trent Carter would blitz, sacking Hurley and forcing a fumble, which was recovered by Bradley Mann. Myles Johnson began to move the chains on a fourth quarter drive, resulting in another touchdown by Kade Frew. The lead ballooned to 21-0, and the skunk was on.

Frew wouldn’t be finished just yet, blazing a 64-yard run to completely demoralize Trinity. Myles Johnson would finish the job punching in a short touchdown to increase the lead to 35 points. Johnson would score again as the Bulldogs bit and blanked the Conquerors 35-0.

Bolles improved to 6-0 on the season behind Kade Frew’s spectacular effort behind a bruising offensive line and a dominant defense. The defense secured its second consecutive shut out in as many weeks, and look to make it three when they face Clearwater Academy (5-1). Trinity fell to 5-1, and hope to have a better showing next week at home. The opponent doesn’t get any easier, as American Heritage (2-2) comes to town.
