Jacksonville Fl- Trinity Christian (8-4) defeated Munroe (8-3) in a Class 2A playoff battle Friday night. .Many around North Florida thought the game between Munroe and Trinity might be close, but Trinity showed why they were greatly mistaken. Oklahoma commit Treyaun Webb took the second play of the game 55-yards to the house for the games first score and the route was on.
After a Seth Bialek 32 yard field goal made the score 10-0 Trinity, the Conquerors mixed defensive dominance with offensive firepower. Colin Hurley would hit Fred Highsmith for a 33-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 17-0 in the first quarter.
Before you could blink, linebacker Johnathan Goddard would scoop up a fumble and rumble 53-yards for a touchdown to give Trinity a 23-0 lead in the first half. The defense was stellar on the night for Trinity. Keaton Thomas had two interceptions in the game keeping Munroe out of the end-zone.
Munroe attempted a late game come back when Ostin Perkins ran an interception back for a 97 yard touchdown. However, Treyaun Webb would answer adding another touchdown run pushing the lead to 39-16. He also a 97 yard run to close out the game. Webb finished with 291 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.
Trinity would go on to win 39-22. The Conquerors will now wait to see who they face in the State Semifinals with reseeding amongst the Class 2A teams. Trinity is the defending Class 3A State champions and look to repeat in 2A.
