Teams Looking To The Next Round Of Girls Basketball Gateway Conference Tournament

First Round results of the Girls Basketball Gateway Conference Tournament are below.

Games held at Raines

Riverside 44 Atlantic Coast 22

Riverside controlled the game from start to finish.  They were up 11-2 early in the first after Jazarri Henderson hit 3 threes in a row to start the game.  Riverside led 26-11 at halftime.  Atlantic Coast played hard in the second half but could never get the lead down below double digits.  Riverside was led in scoring by Jazarri with 17 points, including 4 three pointers.  They will advance to the second round to face Mandarin.  Mandarin earned the number one overall seed and a first-round bye to automatically advance to the second round.  Riverside was able to rest their starters a lot so that they can be fresh for the next game, and they will need all the energy they can get if the hope to upset the undefeated Mandarin Lady Mustangs.  The game will be held at Paxon at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.


Andrew Jackson 51 Raines 46

Jackson got out to an early 8-3 lead against Raines. They took advantage of their size in the paint to build the lead.  Raines fought back with a spark from their bench and but still Jackson kept the lead to end the first quarter, 16-10.  Jackson came out pressing to start the second quarter and pushed the lead to double digits at 22-10.  Raines again fought back to close the gap and went into halftime down 25-20.  Jackson again looked to put the game away pushing the lead back to double digits at 35-25 halfway through the third quarter.  Raines just wouldn’t go away though and came all the way back to take the lead 37-35 going into the fourth quarter.  The lead went back and forth between the two teams as neither wanted to go home empty handed, but it was the experienced Jackson squad that prevailed at the end.  They were led in scoring by Jazmine Jackson with 18 points.  They will advance to face Paxon in the second round.  Paxon earned the number 4 seed and a first-round bye to automatically advance to the second round.  The game will be held at Paxon at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.


Games held at Ed White

Ed White 49 Baldwin 26

Ed White defeated Baldwin 49-26 in the first round of the Gateway Conference Tournament.  Ed White advances to the second round to face Sandalwood.  Sandalwood had a bye in the first round after earning the number three seed in the tournament and automatically advanced to the second round.  This matchup will feature an experienced Sandalwood team against a young Ed White team.  The game will take place at Sandalwood at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Terry Parker vs Stanton

This game was cancelled due to covid.  Terry Parker will automatically advance to the second round to face Ribault.  Ribault had a bye in the first round after earning the number two seed in the tournament and automatically advanced to the second round.  This matchup will feature two teams with young guards leading the offense.  The game will be held at Sandalwood at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Her love for sports was cultivated at a young and she played several while in middle and high school. Coach Patrece attended Florida State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management and served as a team manager and assistant equipment manager for the Women's Basketball team. She then became head JV coach for girls' basketball at Robert E. Lee High School and later worked with the semi-pro team the Florida Lady Knighthawks in various roles.
