Angelina Madera scored two goals and Josey Rossignol added another in the contest as Fletcher kicked their way to the state championship for the first time in 24-years.

Fletcher won the Duval County Gateway Conference Championship defeating Mandarin 2-1 in overtime in January. Repeating as champions.

Not only has it been a championship year for Fletcher and Head Coach Bradley Plummer, but it’s also been a year of character for his team. Players like Remy Snyder and Sarah Christiansen have been instrumental along with Madera and Rossignol leading on and off the field. After losing the district championship to Ponte Vedra 2-1, Fletcher took their show on the road in the playoffs.

Fletcher defeated Navarre 3-0 in round one, and Buchholz 4-0 in round two, setting up a third rematch with a tough Fleming Island. The Golden Eagles and the Senators had played to two regulation ties 2-2 in the regular season, and 0-0 in the district tournament. Fletcher would win 4-3 on penalty kicks in that game to advance to the district title game. In the elite 8 playoff match, Fletcher would trail 0-1 but make a comeback thanks to goals from Josey Rossignol and Sawyer Reynolds.

Now Fletcher (17-5-2), will face Lourdes Academy (17-1-3) on February 25th in Deland Florida. The Senators will attempt to make history, becoming the first girls soccer champion for a Duval County public school.
