Jacksonville FL- Over 1,000 athletes, 30 schools, and 45 volunteers made up the 56th installment of the Bob Hayes Track and Field Invitational this year. 2022 marked a very special occasion, as long time Director of the Bob Hayes Invitational, Coach James Day was honored at a ceremony.
After 40 years, Coach Day retired from William M. Raines High School as a teacher, mentor, coach, and athletic director. He earned District, Regional, State Championships and several Runner-Up Finishes. As Director of the Bob Hayes Track and Field Invitational, Coach Day expanded it from twenty-five teams to over two hundred teams. An Iconic figure whom the community lost in late February of this year, and who is sorely missed and but supremely celebrated.
