Northeast Fl- We’ve updated the final ratings for the running backs, so let’s see how they fell on the list. For the last three years, Duval Sports has released Madden Ratings for athletes in Northeast Florida and let’s just say it’s been interesting. It’s been a pretty fun story for the young athletes, being able to associate their favorite video game with their own personal athletic achievement. It’s all in fun, and all in the game as EA Sports says. So let’s break down the Madden Ratings, and look at what determines the overall ratings.

There are three main catagories that determine the overall Madden Ratings listed. Stats, Athleticism, and Opponents. Stats will be listed next to each player. Athleticism is based off what Duval Sports coorespondents have seen in person, or reviewed on Hudl. Opponents is based on strength of schedule and college offered players faced. The overall rating based on those three categories, is what’s shown in the skills bar.
Only the Top 25 players from each position will be listed. Players overall ratings must be graded at 80% or above to be listed. All stats are used from Maxpreps, the official stat provider for the FHSAA. If stats aren’t available, we reach out to each school for stats or simply factor in athleticism and strength of schedule. Finally, lets check out the Madden Rankings below.

Several running backs have impressed this year, and we’ll highlight just a few. Starting with University Christian’s Orel Gray, who lead the area in rushing and plays both ways. Trinity’s dynamic duo of Treyaun Webb and Darnell Rogers navigated the toughest schedule in Northeast Florida, split carries and still dominated. Other notables are Devontae Lyons of St. Augustine, and Jordan Bean of Sandalwood, who both eclipsed 1,000 yards this year again. Devin Outlaw, who had a phenominal senior year.
Nick Williams of Creekside had 17 TDs on the ground, and Laython Biddle of Bartram had 29 TDs on the ground. That matchup between the two was epic in that difficult district. Fleming Island’s Sam Singleton shared carries with several backs, but still made big impacts on minimal carries going over 1,000 yards. Willie Pollard of Bradford shared the ball with many rushers as well, but was clearly the go to guy after Manny Covey went down with injury.
Christian Coleman (Menendez), Darrell Sawyer (Parker), and Ty Neal (Bolles) were asked to carry the load and put together great seasons for their teams. Players like Fred Gaines (Jackson), and Tony Fulton (Columbia) were very talented backs that produced for their teams as well.

Tavales Thomas shared the back field with three other backs but still lead the team in rushing. Auston Harris led First Coast in rushing as he still neared 1,000 yards in the heavy pass attack. Fred Gaines was in a duel back-field and was one of the top rushers in the gateway conference. As was Ribault’s Damontrio Glee, who went over the century mark for the season.
