Showdown Friday: Bartram Cracks 50 On Creekside

St. Johns Fl- It was predicted to be a shoot-out as two of the highest scoring teams in Florida resumed their rivalry. It was also predicted, that Creekside (5-2) would have to find enough on defense to hold Bartram’s offense to minimal points, or they’d be forced to out-score the Bears in order to win. Both predictions would prove to be true, as Bartram (7-0) cracked the 50-point maker again, defeating Creekside 59-27.

It was Bartram’s second time scoring exactly 59 points this season, as their offense has exploaded of late. One of the main reasons for the offenses success is running back. The talented 2024 athlete scored three touchdowns in the first half, including an amazing 90-yard touchdown as Bartram took a 31-14 lead into halftime.

Creekside scored in the first half thanks to a Wilson Edwards 24-yard touchdown run, and a 17-yard pass to Ashton Reynolds. However, Creekside just could not stop the onslaught by Bartram who scored seemingly from everywhere on the field.

Quarterback Riley Trujillo hit Taylor Rhodes for two second half touchdowns, the first increased the lead to 38-14. Trujillo would also hook up with Jack Cremen twice in the game, as the Bears mixed up the scoring efforts among their many weapons. They racked up nearly 600-yards of total offense.

Bartram’s defefense was relentless just as the offense, holding Creekside to just 14 points mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Both Davis Houk and Arion Stith recorded multiple sacks in the game. Sharif Denson and Sergio Lanzas would also nab interceptions in the contest, showing why Bartram is the most dangerous team in the area on both sides of the ball.

Now the Bears gear up for Buchholz (6-0) next, in a game to decide the District 4S-3 champion next week. Creekside suffered their second loss in district play, but will get ready for Fleming Island. That game very well may decide if either team eventually makes the playoffs.
