The Last Time Bishop Kenny Beat Bolles….

Jacksonville Fl- A James Resar touchdown run gave Bishop Kenny a 14-13 lead with 11:30 left in the 4th quarter. That’s all the Crusaders would need as their crusade to finally defeat Bolles ended after 45 years. Bishop Kenny would hold on for the victory to improve to 7-1 on the season, and be crowned District 2M-2 champion.

Bolles took a 10-0 lead when quarterback D.J. Moore tossed a 12-yard touchdown to freshman wide receiver Naeem Burroughs. Moore returned after being injured earlier in the year versus Brunswick. But Kenny came back when James Resar passed a touchdown of 7-yards to Jayden Harris closing the gap to 10-7 at halftime. Resar’s 42-yard pass to Jackson Burnett set up the score, as the Crusaders kept it close.

A Bolles field goal by Matthew Berry increased their lead to 13-7 in the third quarter, as the Bulldogs attempted to grind out the win behind the Ty Neal’s rushing effort. The sophomore went over the century mark in contest. However, Resar changed the game with his arm and then his legs. The 4-star Iowa commit connected with JP Donovan on a screen pass and a short pass in the red zone to set up his short run for the go ahead score.

Not since 1977, had Bishop Kenny defeated Bolles. In fact, the last time BK won this matchup, this is what was going on in the world…
