Powerball; Union County, Christ’s Church, And Bishop Kenny, Punch Their Tickets To Volleyball Final 4

Northeast Fl- If you’ve been following our social media feeds, you know that playoff volleyball is full swing. Three area teams punched their winning tickets to the final 4 this week, while two others (Trinity Christian and Ridgeview) concluded very successful seasons. Although noone won the winning Powerball numbers last night in the now 1.5 billion dollar lottery, there were winning numbers on the volleyball courts, as several teams played powerball on their way to the state semifinals.


Tuesday

2A FHSAA Girls Volleyball
Christ’s Church 3 Oak Hall 2

At 19-5,Christ’s Church has navigated an incredible championship season once again. They defeated Oak Hall in 5 sets (25-22, 25-22,22-25,18-25,15-11) in the Regional Final to advance to the State Semifinals. Nadia Mortensen led the team in the game with 18 kills, followed by Julia Howard’s 16 kills. Sydney Kambach served 4 aces and registered 3 blocks in the contest, while Noelle Kirkland and Mortensen both led the team with 20 digs a piece. An all around team effort. The #4 seeded Christ’s Church Eagles will face #1 seeded Seacrest Country Day (24-4)

Union County 3 Aucilla Christian 0

Union County (20-7) advanced to the state semifinal defeating Aucilla Christian on Tuesday. Incredibly, Union County’s Jaycee Davis has led the team with 331 kills, 312 digs and 56 aces in serving on the season. She recorded her 1,000th kill and dig this year. Jailyn Simmons leads the team in blocks( 41) as just a freshman.

The #3 seeded Union County Tigers will take on #2 seeded Baker on Friday in the final 4.


4A FHSAA Girls Volleyball

Bishop Kenny 3 South Walton 0

Bishop Kenny (19-9) has reached 18 straight regional finals. This week, they advanced to the State semifinals after defeating South Walton 3-0. Bishop Kenny has been a dominant force in volleyball in Northeast Florida. They continued that trend on Tuesday. Olivia Ryno led with 11 kills complimented by Allison Cavanaugh’s 10 kills in the game. Sarah Seabrook led the team with 3 aces in serving, and 18 digs.

The 4th seeded Crusaders will face #1 seeded Santa Fe (28-2), in the state semifinals to play Saturday .


3A FHSAA Girls Volleyball

Trinity Catholic 3, Trinity Christian 0

Trinity Christian fell to Trinity Catholis 25-18, 25-16, 25-23 in the Class 3A REgional Finals. The Conquerors end a record-setting season with a 25-4 overall record, their deepest playoff run in school history. Amaria King, Ariel Ross and Hadley Dantzler have led the way for Trinity. They’ll look togo even further next year.

#2 Trinity Catholic faces #3 Clearwater Central Catholic on Friday in the Final 4.


Wednesday

5A FHSAA Girls Volleyball

Ocala Vanguard 3 Ridgeview 0

Ridgeview (18-12) fell to Ocala Vanguard (16-11) last night in the Class 5A Regional Final. (25-14, 25-18, 25-19). Haley Robinson has led the team all year with 294 kills, and 131 blocks. Mariah Bostic-Jones’s 57 aces was first on the team this year along with Kasey Casiple’s 597 digs. Although it was short of their goal, Ridgeview once again showed why they are one of the best in Northeast Florida.

#4 Vanuard will face #1 Jansen Beach in the class 5A final 4 on Saturday.
