Defending Champs Defying Odds And Adding Hardware With 3-Peat

Northeast Fl- It’s never easy to go back to back in any sport in a quest for a championship, but Fletcher’s girls soccer team is making a run at a state title again. Already making history as the first Duval County public school to win a girl’s soccer championship last year, the Senators are once again defying odds and hoisting hardware. Fletcher defeated Atlantic Coast 2-1 last week to achieve a 3-peat in winning the Gateway Conference Championship. No easy feat for any team.

Fletcher’s win marked their third consecutive Gateway Conference title since 2020. Only Stanton has achieved this status, winning three Gateway Conference titles from 2017-2019. Now it’s Fletcher’s turn, and Fletcher’s time. It’s a testament to the hard work and leadership by seniors Evie Poland, Taylor Sweat, Bri Campos and Sawyer Reynolds.

Against Atlantic Coast, Emma Mcmurry and Ava Amalberti scored goals, with Avery Langlois and Sarah Aquino adding assists.

The Sophomore Amalberti has been a big play-maker this year. While Langlois has stepped up big in tough contests. Agaisnt Fernandina, Avery scored the team’s only goal for the win. Every game has been tough, as the team get’s the best efforts from every team eager to knock off the defending history making champs.

Fletcher concluded their regular season at 11-5-1, and are ready to make a repeat run at district and state titles. Defying odds, and adding hardware in the process.
