District Champ History Makers And Gamebreakers Ready For Playoffs

Northeast FL- The girls basketball regular season is in the books, and for some teams it’s a history book as they accomplished district championships for the first time in their school’s history. It’s also playoff time, as several game breakers lead their teams to the post season. Check out all the girls basketball district champions, playoff matchups, and the teams who made history in 2023!


District 2A-3

St John’s Country Day 53 University Chrsitian 52 F

5-star Arkansas signee Taliah Scott went for 42 points to lead the Lady Spartans to victory, and a district championship over University Christian. It was revenge for St. Johns Country Day as they avenged a loss to U.C just a year earlier in the district tournament. Now they sit at 16-5 on the season, looking to make a strong playoff push.

#1 St. Johns Country Day will take on #8 St. Josephs (St. Augustine) in round one of the playoffs.


District 3A-3

Providence 43 Episcopal 32 F

Providence improved to 19-5 on the season, defeating Episcopal for the district championship. Ella Ortman scored 14pts while freshman Kasey Davey scored 10 points in the win.

Providence will be a #1 seed and face #8. Bradford in the first round of the playoffs


District 6A-3

Oakleaf 56 Ponte Vedra 21 F

It was a dominating performance by the 23-2 Oakleaf Lady Knights, winning their third straight district championship. Leading up to the championship, they secured a 84-38 win over Fleming. Paced by Fantasia James 22 points, Kaylah Turner 31 points, and Trista Brown scoring 16 points.

#1 Oakleaf will host #8 Pace in the first round of the playoffs.


District 7A-1

Mandarin 43 Creekside 41 F

At 14-9, Mandarin has stampeded towards a winning season and a district championship narrowly defeating Creekside 43-41.

Mandarin was seed #8 and in turn will travel to #1 Spruce Creek in the first round of the playoffs.


District 4A-3

Ribault 53 Andrew Jackson 9

What an incredible championship performance by Ribault, defeating Jackson by 44 points! Head Coach Dorian Stevens has her 14-7 team clicking at the right time. Look out for this young and fun team in the playoffs.

These two teams will square off again in the first round of the playoffs as Jackson surprisingly secured the #4 seed while Ribault secured the #5 seed in Class 3A.


District 5A-2

Ridgeview 56 Rickards 42 F

At 20-7, Ridgeview has been on the prowl against their opponents. Their defeat of Rickards brought home their first girls basketball district championship in school history. Nia Blockton joined the 1,000 point club this week.

#3 Ridgeview will be running it back against #6 Rickards again, this time in a rematch of first round playoff teams.


District 4A-4

Bishop Kenny 45 Bolles 31 F

Arguably the best team in Northeast Florida, Bishop Kenny (26-1) defeated a very tough Bolles team to win their district championship. Sophia Rueppell led the way with 14 points from BK.

#1. Bishop Kenny faces #8 West Florida in th efirst round of the playoffs.


District 2A-2

North Florida Educational Institute (NFEI) 80 Covenant School of Jacksonville 14

Move over boys, cause the NFEI Eagles girls basketball team are making a run for a state title too. The Eagles won by 66 points on their way to a district title.

NFEI (14-8) secured the #2 seed and will host #7 Oak Hall (16-7) in the first round of the playoffs.


District 5A-3

Ed White 39 Stanton 35 F

2023 is a year of history, especially for Ed White who won their first ever girls basketball District Championship in school history! Their defeat of Stanton marked a super year for super seniors Tymia Robinson, Natalee Jenkins, Brianna Henderson, and Tremesha Harris, who led their team to a 14-10 winning season.

Ed White was awarded the #8 seed and will take on #1 seed Mainland ( Daytona Beach)

Class 2A #3. University Christian (12-5) will host #6 Covenant (Jax) {19-5}

Class 3A #5 Episcopal (13-13) will travel to #3. Master’s Academy (Ovideo) {19-6}

Class 3A #7. Trinity Christian (Jax) {18-8} will travel to #2. P.K. Yonge (Gainesville) {14-3}

Class 4A #7 Beachside (17-6) travels to #2 Rutherford (Panamah City) {23-1}

Class 4A #3 Bolles (18-9) will host #4 Paxon (15-8)

Class 5A #4 St. Augustine (18-7) will host #5 Pine Forest (Pensacola) (15-11)

Class 6A #5 Ponte Vedra (15-9) will travel to #4 Crestview (20-7)

Class 6A #2 Nease (20-6) will host #7 Land O’ Lakes (18-4)
