Grand Park, the home of the youth football Grand Park Trojans was the site for the City 2 Streets Athletes Football Camp. The camp began with a vision “to deter athletic students from drugs and crime in the city streets and develop them into productive student-athletes” (cs2sa.com). Athletes ranged from five years ole to 18 years old doing an assortment of athletic drills and skills. The camp focused primarily on core strength, but not just the core of the body but the core of the mind. The camp ended with a pledge that everyone recited in unison, fostering self confidence, integrity without the use of performance enhancing drugs, and hard work. All of which are core fundamentals for success in youth and prep sports.
