The Los Angeles Lakers signed forward Alex Fudge to a two-way contract on Wednesday, sending the former Riverside baller out west. A two-way contract allows players to suit up for both an NBA team and its NBA G League affiliate. Before he arrived in the city of angels, Fudge was a God send to teams here in Jacksonville.
At Riverside, he averaged 16.0 ppg and 9.9 rpg as a junior, dazzling everyone with his acrobatic dunks, and aggressive play. Fudge would pick up several D-1 offers including one to LSU. As a senior, Fudge would play in only 9 games before leaving to enroll early at LSU.
He averaged 17.9 ppg and 12.2 rebounds on his way to a sure Mr. Basketball award, however he chose not to finish the basketball season. Fudge would enroll at LSU in 2021 and transfer to the University of Florida in 2022.
Fudge (6’9”, 192) appeared in 61 career games (12 starts) across two seasons at the University of Florida (2022-23) and Louisiana State University (2021-22). In 2022-23, Fudge posted averages of 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19.3 minutes in 32 games (11 starts) as a Gator. The 20-year-old most recently appeared in five games for Los Angeles at NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas. (via NBA.com)
Before Alex Fudge dazzled crowds with dunks for Riverside HS, and at the University of Florida, he captivated crowds at quarterback for then Jeff Davis middle school (Charger Academy). In just six years, Fudge went from being a Duval Sports middle school top 50 athlete, to an NBA professional. A reality that young student athletes should know to excel in the classroom because dreams can come true very fast.
