In Pictures: 7 Takes From Bradford vs Baldwin

Northeast Fl- Seven is the biblical number of completion. So every Sunday, we’ll highlight our 7 Takes from a particular game that we covered during the week. These “7 Takes” make up a complete game summary, highlighting key factors that led to the outcome. Our second complete game we provide 7-Takes from is Bradford(2-0) win at Baldwin (1-1) 40-6.

Take 1

The obvious first take is the Bradford defense. The unit has given up just 6 points in two games, picking up where they left off last year. Players like Torin Brazell, Chason Clark, Devon McBride, and Chalil Cummings all had sacks. Others are leading the way for the Tornadoes as well. Against Baldwin, they completely shut down every phase of their offense. They picked off a pass to prevent a score and turned it into 6 with a touchdown by Jorden Daniels. Defense wins championships they say, so that’s a great start for Bradford.

Take 2

The Tornadoes have yet to discover a formula at quarterback, but they did find a formula for scoring. Against Baker County last week, they could only muster 12-points, because the Wildcats adjusted to the offense by the second quarter. Against Baldwin, they had virtually zero passing yards in the first half. This won’t win deep playoff games.

They did find success against Baldwin with Jeremiah McKenzie at QB, who used his athleticism for a touchdown run. I continue to advocate for McKenzie to stay at QB for the Tornadoes. This will allow Dae’jon  sixx Shanks and Chalil Cummings to be on the field as weapons at the same time. Putting 40 points up is a testament to the coaching staff going back and drawing up new ideas in weak areas.

Take 3

Baldwin made it tough for Bradford, forcing them to grind it out all game. This was in-part due to the size the Indians have up front. They were able to clog lanes and pressure Bradford. Yanni Loyd, Vanderbilt commit Mason Carter and, linebacker Octavius Barnes got after it.

Take 4

Noone wants to tackle #6 Dajon Shanks. Bradford showed that they are more than just speed with fast Willie Pollard,  but they have power as well. Shanks has clearly put on muscle to increase his size and it’s showed. He scored 3 times against Baldwin, passing for a score, and running over defenders for 2TDs. He ran through them late in the game too, as defenders just seemed to move out of his way.

Take 5

Baldwin’s talent is there and it showed in several ways. One way was the play of  Leon Kirkland who scored a touchdown on a fumble return off a failed Bradford punt,.Trailing 28-0 there was absolutely no quit in him as he impressed with the score and his hustle all game.

Take 6

Did Baldwin give the game away, or did Bradford take the game away? Bradford’s first score came from a botched punt attempted from their own end zone as Branden Williams recovered it for Bradford’s TD. Then Baldwin threw a pick 6 by Jorden Daniels. If Baldwin is to compete against Top 10  teams, they can’t give points away.

Take 7

The Bradford bullies up front completely wore down Baldwin to the final whistle. The offensive line of #50 Ridge Bradley , #53 Cameron Lewis, #51 Jorden Daniels, #52 Cayden Carter, #55 Jacob Ferguson, #66 Hunter Cochran put a hat on a hat and drove the bigger Baldwin front off the ball. Take a bow big fellas, a virtuoso performance in the trenches Saturday night.
