Northeast Fl- After week 2 action, we’ve seen alot of shifting and moving in the Top 10. Injuries have made the outlook of teams suspect in the coming weeks, but have also catapulted some teams over traditional power houses into top positions on the power rankings. Top players are the reason for these team’s early success, so check out the top teams and the top players from each team, from this week’s power rankings.

#1. Mandarin (2-0)

After their 21-point comeback win over Bolles, Mandarin has now beaten two of the best teams in Northeast Florida in back to back weeks. They ran away with the game vs Fletcher 43-21 in week 1, and ran down Bolles 42-35 in week 2. With lot’s of new pieces to the puzzle, the Mustangs are learning how to win with each other and will only get better as the year goes on. On offense, Tiant Wyche has rushed for 289 yards and 5 TDs in just two games. On defense, Drake Stubbs leads wih 14 tackles, and 2 interceptions.

#2. Bradford (2-0)

The Tornadoes went on the road Saturday defeating Baldwin 40-6. They have the best defense in Northeast Florida, holding both Baker County and Baldwin in consecutive weeks to under 100 yards of total offense combined. Duke Lewis leads the team with 18 tackles and 2 sacks on defense, while Chalil Cummings leads the team in receiving with 144 yards and 2 TDs in 2 games.

#3. St. Augustine (2-0)

The Jackets were on a bye last week, as they prepare for Brunswick (1-0) on Saturday. After defeating Spruce Creek 47-0, and then upsetting Bolles 43-36, this team has quickly caught the attention of many in Northeast Florida. Quarterback Locklan Hewlett has passed for 666 yards and 7 TDs in two games. He’s tops in NE Florida, and 3rd overall in the state in passing yards. On defense Ja ki Singleton leads the team with 29 tackles and an interception. Coach Braddock leads his team to Georgia Saturday.

#4. Raines (1-0)

The Vikings were on a bye in week 2 after defeating University Christian 27-12 in week 1. On offense, running-back Mark Miller rushed for 124yds and 2 TDs in their first game. On defense, defensive tackle Jyon Simon leads the team with 8 tackles and 1 sack. Now, it’s time for the long haul for Raines after an early bye week.

#5. Trinity (1-1)

It was a tough defeat in Plantation Florida last week, as the Conquerors fell to American Heritage 27-14. The team looked defeated by the second half, and it wasn’t a good showing from them. Still, a bright spot so far on the season is quarteback Colin Hurley , who has thrown 4 TDs in 2 games. Kyle Boylston has caught one of those touchdowns, while also picking off 2 passes in two games on defense. They’ll have a chance to rebound this week.

#6. Bartram Trail (2-0)

Laython Biddle ran for 4 touchdowns as the Bears racked up 292 rushing yards from six different rushers against Seabreeze. The Bears are showing that they can run the ball effectively, and that’s a big plus. They’ll have to lean on Biddle, and sophomore quarterback Jaden Weatherly in the coming weeks as starting quarterback Riley Trujillo is sidelined due to injury. They also have their defense, which pitched a shutout as Grady Hutchinson leads the team this season with 14 tackles.

#7. Ponte Vedra (1-1)

Head Coach Steve Price got a big victory on the road last week agaisnt FSU High 23-22. Quarterback Ben Burke led a 2-minute drill late in the game scoring with 10 seconds left in the game to upset the Noles. Burke has passed for 422 yards 3 TDs and ran for 135 yards in two games. The Sharks have a sharpe defense as well, as Talan Babin leads the team with 22 tackles in 2 games.

#8. Bishop Kenny (1-0)

The Crusaders cruised passed First Coast 38-20 in week 1 and did not have a game last week, as their contest against Middleburg was rescheduled. Quarterback James Resar lead the offense accounting for all 5 touchdowns in week 1. On defense, Kolbe Sexton champions the unit leading them in tackles and a sacks.

#9. Creekside (1-1)

Coach Sean McIntyre got his first win of the 2023 season defeating rival Nease. One thing about the Knights, they can really put up points. In week one they lost to Palm Beach Central 55-48. Last week they hung 51 on Nease. Sean Ashenfelder has passed for 333 yards and rushed for 153 yards, tallying 8 touchdowns on the season. On defense, Kayden Vimoktayon has 2 picks against Nease.

#10. Atlantic Coast (2-0)

Atlantic Coast improved to 2-0 Tuesday night defeating Ribault 20-13. Sean Speed threw touchdowns of 35-yards to Rico Walker and 27-yards to Taylor Kennedy to stay unbeaten! The defense has stepped up big as well as it generated a pick-6 by Darnell Malpress. Camden Hardy has 2-sacks on the season.
