Fletcher HS-The 2023 Duval County Middle School Champions were crowned Wednesday night as Landon defeated Baldwin in two straight sets to win “Back to Back” championships. The Lions faced Baldwin in back to back years, winning two hard fought contest.
The Lions defeated Oceanway and Springfield middle schools in the playoffs on their way to the championship. Landon clinched the Southern Division with a record of 13-0, and won the South division. Juliette Watson and Mae Abernathy were recognized as all-conference selections for the team.
The Landon 8th graders are ending their middle school careers with a 40-1 record. The previous two years, the Lions faced Fletcher in the championship game, losing in the county title game. The Lions are a middle school volleyball dynasty, making their fourth straight trip and winning back to back titles in 2022-2023.
